January 06, 2004, 05:23:57 PM
ya called the guy... $$$3500 and he says the motor has a noise in it... hes crazy

ok... this may sound really stupid, but if the PM III breaks down as much as you guys say it does. why not gut the system and have regular breaks like any other W-body. I might just be crazy but that makes more sense to me.

would a box from a 94+ grand prix work in a TGP or actually would a box from any GM 94 - 96 work? if not can the wiring be redone to make it work?

General / Anti-Loc Brakes
April 05, 2003, 10:44:15 AM
ok this is prolly the dumbest thing but i am curious so here goes.

if you don't want the abs on the car can you simply remove the whole system? is that possible to go to normal brakes. i mean just gut the whole system and have normal lines from the master to the wheels.

maybe not too stupid but you never know. thanks guys

Exterior/Interior/Lighting / cleaning headlights?
April 04, 2003, 04:21:46 PM
well im not sure about what you call em but i know at the local canadian tire they are called super whites. but iether way as long as they dont look too (blue-ish) in my opinion that looks too ricy lol. those sylvania bulbs i told you about run something like 12 bucks (canadian) so theyre inexpensive and are bright.

i only have one good question though about lighting. what is the best kind of driving or fog light?

jeff you are the man thanks.  you prolly saved me almost a grand in stuff. just one last thing bout the wastegate though. if it has a different wastegate than the ones you designed the chip for (no matter which one) can i swap it out for one that was designed to go with the chip? (if that didnt make sense dont worry i do that sometimes.

yeah see the shop i want to go to is super good. they're owned by SLP. you know the guys that make the camaro ss. there shop is here in montreal. these guys want to put in dropped forged pistons balance everything i want them to put in the lifters with the lil wheels on em. i think thats what they are. anyway. i just want to know if i start replacing parts like that (pistons, lifters, balancing) will that change anything setup wise in the computer that will require me to have extensive mods done to the chip.

General / Parts
April 01, 2003, 11:13:32 AM
Some other questions i have for TGP owners.

Is the suspension the same on a TGP as on the Cutlas FE3?
in other words will the shocks and struts from that cutlas be the ones i buy for my TGP?

the tranny... is there another GM vehicle that uses the same tranny. if not what do i tell a shop if i ever get it rebuilt?

other than that all i wanted to know was the above post on rebuilding an engine. but hopefully Jeff M can answer me that one Thanks guys.

Curious question that i hope Jeff M can answer. I am going to buy carl's TGP soon but i fear his engine will need to be rebuilt. the question is when i get it rebuilt the guys at the shop im going to are going to replace all. will that change anything involving the tg160 chip he has in the car. also carl tells me there is a special wastegate on the car. can this be swapped out for a normal TGP wastegate.

you gotta understand im importing this car into canada so i need to make parts finding easier and also i dont want to create any future headaches for myself.

I have already decided what i will do with my exhaust system when (i hope) that is when i get my TGP. If you need to pass inspection (not emissions) then try this. get some heavy guage sheet metal and cut 2 pieces oval then get some lighter guage metal and cut it long and rectangular... (i hope you see where im going with this) ok so what you do is this.

1) take two pieces of heavy guage sheet metal (stainless if you can find)
now have them cut oval and to the approx size of your muffler. (dont have to be exact)

2) next cut a hole that is the outside diameter of your pipe in the center of the two pieces. ( i will actually use three pieces of metal for a lil rigidity but then again i like overkill  :headbang: )

3) now weld the plates to the pipe making sure everything is equal

4) get a legnth of light sheetmetal that will wrap around everything and is wide enough. weld that in place and voila you have a dummy muffler.

no i know the explanation wasn't really needed but i wanted to do that once lol. but it is a great idea to have i mean unless you have emissions it would be pretty hard to know its a fake muffler.

you know what would work well is if you took the reservoir off a n/a grand prix cuz those ones were made to fit in the middle. just a thought mind you. lol
