General / Fixed my TGP and did a Massive Weight reduction!
September 03, 2004, 08:22:12 PM
well i replaced the ignition modual and all 3 coils. Then i installed a new GM O2 sensor.. NOW it runs like it is supposed to! I am finally content with the car.

The weight reduction i did was scraping off about 50lbs of caked on grease and crap stuck to the motor. Then i took it to work, Soaked it in degreaser and power washed it with the HOTSIE. Clean as a wistle! The block was nasty due to a leaking Valve cover gasket and the tranny was caked from the leaky Dist-O-Ring.

I am finaly starting to get proud of my tgp.

General / 1G Eclipse BOV Installed.. Ricer post..
September 03, 2004, 08:13:12 PM
Well i finally got off my ass and installed my 1st gen BOV. I put it on the upper charge pipe near the strut tower.

It Works nicly.... BUT i was hoping for a bit more sound. it sounds like a stock Eclipse... I like the Wastegate Fluttering sound better, MUCH louder and sounded funny.

But on the other hand i have heard that not having a BOV can cause back spool on the turbo and shorten its life.. I figure 150,000 miles on the stock turbo needs all the help it can get.

General / T-25's and COOLANT... Please read
September 03, 2004, 08:05:30 PM
Try one of 2 things.

* Pressure test the cooling system, if its leaking out the turbo it will not hold pressure.

* Pull the turbo after the pressure test and see if there is any coolant residue in the exhaust housing or in the downpipe.

Just a couple ideas.

Performance / ? about Stock Boost levels..... Chip?
September 03, 2004, 07:49:30 PM
I have an aftermarket gauge. I am seeing 11PSI peak, 10 pretty consistant and 9psi tward redline and when engine is HOT. I am getting some more exhaust work done wed. Hopefully it will help me hold boost up top. but a couple nights ago when it was COLD I watched the guage go to 12psi then instantly hit fuel cut. I assume that indicates that somewhere along the line someone chipped the car?

I was going to sell her but i got most of the bugs worked out failry cheaply. plus i don't want to see someone else driving my car :) don't know if i could handle that :). Besides i have almost $4000 wraped up into the car and it still needs a bumper and paint. No way in hell i will nearly that much out of her. I still need to:
* Solder the Cluster (Check Guages, and Low fuel light come on)
* replace the fuel sender (guage is off by about 1/8+ tank and now sticking), and replace seal around the sending unit to the tank, Leaks..
* get a new keyless entry box. mine is junk.

BTW I walked a new body A4 Audi from a slow roll in my TGP. Then he told me, as i was turning into a gas station to "Get a real car, that thing is a piece of Sh*t!". Pissed me off, so when i chased him down he turned off like a BIATCH! what a puss!

Performance / ? about Stock Boost levels..... Chip?
September 02, 2004, 02:42:19 PM
What is the stock boot cut off? It has been a long while sence i looked. but from the w-body site it says

"Raised maximum boost fuel/spark cutoff from 9.5psi to 12.5psi."

I am seeing boot cut at ~12psi.... From what i was told by the guy who sold me the car, it did not have a chip in it.... BUT now i am starting to think it does... I am running nothing more then an intake, X-over and downpipe (Gutted Cat).

Is there anyway to tell if the car is chipped

Thanks,
Shane

Performance / Will a 16B/G fit our cars???
May 04, 2004, 09:49:53 PM
i would find out the AR's and what not. I would say it is probibly not going to be the best upgrade if the AR's are too small. A 20G would be probibly a better upgrade if you find one cheap.

Problems & Solutions / O2 sensor question?
April 29, 2004, 08:01:55 PM
Is the Stock 3.1L One wire O2 sensor the same as the TGP O2 Sensor. If not would my car run like ass or what would be the result of putting in the wrong O2 sensor?

Exterior/Interior/Lighting / Rear window louvers

check at your local parts stores. Check for "GTS" brand. they may make them. I like them on the Beretta's if they are painted the color of the car.

pull one out and go to ace. Make sure to get Hardend/Grade 8 bolts. I don't know off the top of my head.

Performance / Downpipe off of the turbo?
April 29, 2004, 05:42:09 PM
Quotebtw, any luck selling that intercooler?

If you have one feel free to bring it, i can atleast have my guy look at it and tell me if its fesable.

One guy almost bought it for his Turbo MR2 but it ended up being like 1.5" to tall or it would have worked perfectly. One of my buddies is boosting his civic and is very interested and i have another guy that will be interested here as well. he is turbing his older TOYOTA Pickup. So it should not be hard to sell it, I am waiting on a definiate answer from both of them. they both might want one. do you still have the other one?

General / exhaust question
April 28, 2004, 08:23:47 PM
Cast manifolds have a 1.75" Outlet
x-over is 1.75"
Turbo to downpipe is 2.25"
Downpipe to Catback is 2.25"
Catback to Y is 2.25"
Yback to mufflers i think is dual 2" or dual 1.75"

all sizes are OD. and the majority of the piping from the manifolds back is press bent. I am not sure about the turbo to downpipe, but most likely press bent.

good quality stainless braided line should not be bothered by the heat. they have HIGH Heat and Pressure ratings.
