May 01, 2003, 01:32:40 PM
Hey, I am eventually gonna get my car outta the garage.  This is actually 2 questions in one here.  First of all, its not starting (it is cranking) and there is really no spark.  Crank Sensor???  Secondly, I see a few of you have strut tower braces.  Where did u get them?  I really want one.  Thanx!

Performance / Transmission Rebuil Kit
February 12, 2003, 12:47:35 PM
Well, would the standard 440t rebuild kit work on this transmission?  I mean if its the case where it would work, but not as good, I would still probably do it just outta shear necessity and time and money savings.  I mean I am sure there are kits available out there for our turbo specific transmissions. Right??

Performance / TRANNYY!!!

Hey guys...I've had the TGP stored up for winter so I haven't been posting lately, but i got a dilemma.  The tranny is hurting!  She slips pretty bad around turns, and it doesn't like third gear very much.  Either way, I know there is a rebuild kit available for the 440t or whatever they call it now (same damn tranny).  I was wondering if anyone knows how much it costs, will it work for our turbo specific tranny, and how much work is involved in yanking the tranny.  I know its sposed to be a 12 hour job (according to my friend in the auto industry).  He wanted to know if its easier to yank the motor too, something about the carriage or cradle or something.  Any advice would be great, because as soon as the TGP leaves the garage in March, its getting a new tranny whether it likes it or not!

General / Holy *@#$...Exhaust Prices!
September 02, 2002, 11:10:48 AM
Well, the car is painted, ABS rebuilt and installed, new pads, rotors calipers, and I am VERY pleased  !  Then, when i went to call around for prices on the exhust (I lost the pipe after the Cat), I nearly fainted.  GM lists the pipe for 200...not TOO bad, but for GM's left Tuned Turbo muffler. you will pay 450 bux!! Right is 200!!  This is INSANE  !!  I am holding off on buyin the exhaust, but the fact is, these mufflers make a HUGE difference in the way of proper backpressure.  Anybody know an aftermarket set-up or anything??

  I imagine a few of you know about this already, but it has not been archived on here yet so I figure I might as well do it since I am in the process of doing it myself.  As many of you know, or soon come to find out, the moldings on our doors have a habit of pulling away from the door.  If you don't know, this is caused by the water penetrating the gap between the door and the molding, and since the clips that hold the moldings on are one piece straight across, it causes the clips to rust and fall off.  The guy who is doing all the body work on my car (I am not a body man) figured out a way to secure the moldings better, and let water get through.  Simply make your own clips.  Make them about and inch to and inch and a half long, and rivet them right to the door.  We used 1/16 thick sheet metal and bent it into a sort of    | shape (sorry bout the

drawing, but you get the idea)!  Either way, it holds the molding closer to the door, and lets water through...hope this helps someone!

Performance / Can you spin your tires?
August 08, 2002, 10:17:56 AM
Oh...duh, i forgot to mention about the tire peelin thing, mind doesnt really peal tire too much.  My car just has a nasty case of wheel hop.  If i mash it, the damn thing just sits there and bounces the front tires up and down, rattles the whole damn car...downside to FWD!

August 03, 2002, 12:25:32 AM
HAHAHA...gotta love when they try to pull that flyby off at the end, as if getting ur butt whooped by more than 2 car lengths isn't bad enough.  You gotta tell ur dad (for his next trip with the TGP) to flash the old 4 ways to signal the win.  Man it feels great to eat rice!!
