LT1 motors people think are puky and have nothing in them. If they are tuned right they have plenty of power. We had one in here the other week with an individual coil conversion and a bit better intake runner. It made plenty of power! ;)

I'm with ya on that! Bone Stock Lt1 cars even with dead 273's run bottom 14's. With a power programmer they run 13.7's to 13.9's and Power programmers are junk. Although they don't trap Crazy MPH stock, anywhere from 98-101mph. LT1's are known to get moving but they lack top end. So if you went from a roll you might have had a chance.

Get to the track and hammer some numbers out! That's the only way to find out!

That's the craziest thing I've heard. 1/8th mile? So I guess everyone is gonna gear there cars for 1/8th mile and forget the rest of the track.

You know how many guys around here run higher gears and only run the 1/8th mile then claim there a faster car then they actually are in the 1/4. Truth is they just gear the piss out of the car and make sure they are screaming at the 1/8th mile mark.

1/4 is the only way to run! BAR NONE!

Off Topic / 98 Trans Am WS6 Walbro Fuel Pump Install
March 24, 2008, 07:36:21 PM
I know this is a a TGP board but some of this stuff can be carried over to the TGP.

I upgraded the factory small gauge wiring from 18 Gauge to 16 Gauge wiring as well as dropped in a High Flow Walbro 255 Intake Pump.

Here's the pics:

Pictures of the Walbro power and ground harness I took apart with a pick. Thicker gauge wire pictured on the left and the stock wiring on the right.

The new thicker gauge wires on the lead I pulled out of the Walbro pump harness. I soldered them as well as crimped them and heat shrunk the ends so there is no chance of them getting loose and coming apart.

Once the connections were done I put the leads back in the walbro supplied harness.

Then I took the leads out of the other factory harness with a pick and took out the factory small gauge wire. The new thicker gauge wire slid in perfectly and I Crimped Soldered and heat shrunk it as well again.

Then I put the leads back in the factory harness making sure they snapped back in place. And here's the finished Thicker gauge harness...

Pump Assembly Pics....

Just finished dropping the pump in and fired it up!

I extended the bottom of the pick up on the pump and test fit it a few times to make sure it wasn't pressed up against the plastic slosh bucket in the tank. The fuel feed line clears the top of the tank and still flexes without binding or pinching.

I should probably add it was a sedan GTP, not coupe. Any myself and my passenger together prolly weighed 300 pounds lol.

Coupe or Sedan, there isn't a whole lot of difference to be honest.

I've seen the heaviest version of the GTP(sedan with sunroof and all options) run several 14.3's and 14.4's at 95.XXmph stock. Some guys with coupes have went 14.1-14.2ish @ 96.XX mph. This of course is in great weather with a pretty good launch. The average GTP time is around a 14.6-14.7 or so.

You should take your car to the track and get a time on it. ;)

I ran 14.5 with my Bone stock GTP with a motor with 300,000KMS on it. With a 3.25 Pulley and full exhaust the car went 13.9@101.

Here's a prime example of why you need to buy a Wideband gauge Nick. With white plugs your definitely having a lack of fuel issue and you most likely are having an issue with the map sensor (Vacuum or voltage).

Who wants a quiet BOV.. the louder the better! :icon_cool: lol
I want a quiet BOV stealth is good. I use to have a 440 challenger years ago and didn't have the cash to get a rear panel with the cut outs for the factory chrome tip dual exhaust. So I found in an exhaust book a dual set up for a big block with turn down pipes. The passenger side was the same pipe the 318 engine with single exhaust would have used. So when I put it on I hung the drivers side up real high so you couldn't see it when you pulled up behind me. Many people pulled up thinking single exhaust must be a 318. Just to find out they got beat by a 440. I don't like advertising I have a turbo car. I even have a plain jane 3 inch turn down exhaust pipe on the end of my 3 inch exhaust. I don't have a muffler on it but may some day. It really isn't too load. The exhaust did make the turbo spool sound a litle louder. remember stealth is good.
Tim

 That's awesome! I had a 97 GTP I took the badges off...but with my 3.25 pulley the charger would wine so loud people knew what they were in for when they heard it!

Dogbone had a story sorta like that with his old 68 Stang Fastback...I'll let him tell you though!
