I recently took care of some peeling clear coat on my red TGP.  Heres what i did...

1) chipped off the remaining chips with my fingers

2) 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper on a random orbital sander to rough up under coat, clear coat, and to sand down ridge formed.

3) rubbing compound on a clean rag to further clean up area

4) wax / grease remove on a clean rag to prep

5) i masked where there was a natural ridge (on the hood) and i removed the red louvers (spraying them seperately)  other than that i didn't mask, i just feathered it in

6) i used a HPLV spray gun with clear coat because I had one available, but previously I used automotive spray paint (and still prefer to use can paint when the area is smaller) in this exact same method and I can hardly tell the difference.

7) light coats, i did three with 5 minutes drying time in between.

8) rubbing compound again to polish up the paint job.

looks great, the peeling clear coat was horrible looking...

W/ geocities you have to click on the link and drag it into the address bar.  It works then.  Clicking won't work, drag N drop, or cut and paste and it will work.
