General Question... I'm taking my car apart...
---
I have soot in my 5th cylinder intake manifold port all the way up to my plenum, fuel in my crankcase, no compression on the 5th cylinder and had a rough idle,  the previous owner said they had a valve-tap sound about 8-10 months ago... but it went away(!!!), this is what I'm thinking.

I changed the wires and just for the hell of it i ohmed them... one was open!  In fact, the wire that conducted no current, was... the 5th cylinder.  So, what I'm thinking happened when the cylinder didn't fire the fuel mixture flooded the 5th cylinder.  The engine was strong enough to keep rolling without the 5th cyliner but when the injectors kept letting fuel in, it had no where to go.  I think there might have been some blow-by (which resulted in the fuel in oil situation) and also some valve damage (since i have no compression there).

So I'm finishing taking off my heads today and gonna clean them up and get them to the machine shop, but do you think cleaning up my heads and valves will do the trick?  This is a really weird situation... the previous owner said it had been running rough recently but the said it was bad gas and then the winter!  Don't buy that...

Please let me know what you think about this idea.  Thanks in advance and any ideas would be helpful!

If you are the guy on the other TGP Board who talked about 95psi compression, then if the valves in the head/for number 5 look good/sealing, then check the cylinder walls in number 5 for scoring from the gas diluting the lubricating oil there.
