Does anyone have a broken DIC around that they could check what type of EEPROM chip is the brains behind them?  Any chance of some pics of the board in them?

Having wired up a hell of a bunch of DIC's, I'm not sure as to why you asked the question.. The TGP DIC's are the older LCD type. They have their own onboard trip computer. And they are wired into the 2 door GP's by a single deadicated wire harness that runs to the C200 connector.  Which is the reason the 88-93 GP's did  not have the DIC wiring unless they were either SE, TGP's GT, GTP's, STE's or TSTE's.

In '90 the Vacuum Flourescent Display (VFD) DIC was introduced to the TSTE and STE only. In 91 even the 2 door models got the VFD DIC. The connector plugs are the same between them, except for the TSTE /STE which had an additional pinouts and a module for extra functions.

Becuase the harness was specific for the DIC. It makes it a snap for anyone to add a DIC to a non-DIC equipped GP if you get the entire harness.  And the harness can be removed and installed without making one single wire cut. It's a complete drop in from one end to the other.
