The Burning Rom

I don't think anyone means to be insulting with their prices. It's just the fact that these cars are not worth that much because there are still so many of them around. The problems they develop doesn't help matters either.   With as many TGPs as I've seen parted out in the past couple years, I still have managed to purchase two of them, and I am working on picking up a 3rd one....BLACK this time  8) And I haven't paid more than $750 for any of them. Granted they aren't in pristine condition, but they're not scrap either. I've also seen a fair number of them crusing around on the local highways. If this many survived in the heart of the rust belt, I can't imagine how many are still going in other states.

Someday these cars will most likely be worth something......but it won't be anytime soon. And even if they were worth 5k or more, I highly doubt you're going to find anyone on this board willing to pay that for one. The sad part to that is there aren't many people (other than the members of this board, and the W-body board) that know anything at all about these cars (the turbos). The majority of the people out there just see "another" grand prix...and that's all it's worth to them.

I would think you could get close to 6 for it.  Every once in a while a TGP with low miles will command a lot of $$.  Like was said above, not too many people know what the hell these cars are.  Just keep advertising it, take it to shows, put it on ebay, smoke ricers til the word is out.

Quote from: 95GTPHey, this guy is parting with his "cream puff".  Probably pampered for the last ten years, low miles, sparing no expense to keep it running in top notch condition.  Dont insult him with offers like your comming up with.  The book dont mean scheit for making up a price.

I agree that KBB can't give a good value on a car like this. No book can give a good value on a car over 15 years old, there are too many variations in condition for it to be accurate.

However, no one is making an offer, just offering input as to what he can expect.

The rommy one speaks the truth.  Unfortunately at this point and time, the TGPs/TSTEs are nothing more than another one of those GM oddities from the late '80s/early '90s era that only a handful of people like ourselves give a damn about.  This is why, regardless of condition, it is hard for these cars to command a decent dollar amount, especially when you think of what you could pick up for $10K.  I'm not trying to put down the cars.  These rareties are all I buy, but from a realistic stand point as far as worth goes, they just generally don't do that well.  Of course, on rare occasions, someone "has to have it".  As I've mentioned before, I got out bid last year with 2 seconds to go on a 40K mile STE AWD (which is a HELL of a lot rarer than any TGP), and it ended up going for $5,500 which was nearly $2K over what KBB said it was worth.  But the guy purchasing it is obscenely rich (LITERALLY buys several cars a week off eBay), so I knew if he wanted it, it was his.  But is it likely that that will happen again in the near feature?  Not at all, because not only have most people never heard of these cars, even AFTER they learn of them, the majority unfortunately just don't care.   :(

If I had the money I would offer 7500 or so being its been taken care of....heck if I found one with less then 10,000 miles and say it was Burgandy with Tan Leather I would not be scared to pay 15K for it....
