Which fan is the fan that's on the radiator in the engine bay? Is that fan1 or fan2?

I think that's fan1, and the secondary one is in front of the intercooler.

Indeed.  Primary fan (#1) is located inside the engine bay.  Secondary fan (#2) is located on the outside of the engine bay.

The larger fan #1, is also known as a "puller, and the smaller fan located in the front is#2 is a "pusher"

And that is how the parts store should ask you what you need..."do you need the pusher or puller fan." Puller is much much much more expensive to replace if you have the 1st generation fan assembly. If you have first gen fan you will have to replace the motor and the fan blades... 8)

If #1 fan is shot like mine was, I would highly reccomend a Permacool replacement 14"  at 2950 cfm from Summit racing. It does a great job and nowhere as expensive like the cheap factory one.
