There are at least 4 owners in the NE Ohio/NW PA area with TGP's. turby, Air TGP, turbo90gp, and myself.

I was thinking of doing a mini-meet for us TGP owners here in Youngstown, OH. We all know how rare these cars are and it's rare to see more then 1 in any given area [with exemption to people that own 2+ cars   ] Here's some stuff about my area.

We have a VERY LARGE state park with a lake, I don't think you can swim in it though. You have to drive through half of the park to get to the lake, makes great cruising. Lots of places for picnics and photo ops. The best picnic area has a large shaded parking lot that's right next to the lake. It also has grills, but I probably wouldn't use them.    You can rent a row or paddle boat at the same lake, and you can fish in it. In the same park at a place called Rocky Ridge, there are 18 short holes, batting cages, softball fields, and walk-in water fountain to cool off in. It also has two large parking lots for photo op. Rocky Ridge is very close to the lake. And of course there are a lot of hiking trails. That's just the park. [:D]

A stone's throw from the park is the main cruising strip, Rt. 224 [this road goes across the whole distance of Ohio from Indiana to PA]. Lots of restraunts to eat at; Denny's, Chili's, Perkin's, Bob Evan's, IHOP, Red Lobster, Lonestar Steak House, Olive Garden, The Outback, The Springfield Grill SteakHouse, Chi Chi's, Applebee's, TGIF Friday, Friendly's, The Grand Buffet [great asian food buffet], China Garden [great family owned asian food restruant] and of course the fast food places and Krispie Kream and Star Bucks. There are also a few places for auto repair if you need it and a BP/Shell gas stations. Target, K-Mart, and Wal-Mart for quick shopping. There's an automated carwash that I go to a lot for those that want to clean their cars. There's also the mall to shop at. Inside the mall is a restraunt called Jillian's. It has a sports bar, pool tables, bowling lanes, and an arcade. It stays open late.

Right by the Outback and Springfield Grill are about 3 hotels.

Every Friday there is a cruise-in at A&W [the best burgers in the area!] with a parking lot large enough for 25-30 cars. Then every saturday there is a cruise-in at Chili's [located in the mall parking lot] that has even a bigger parking lot.

Right off of Rt.224 near the mall, is the local town park, Boardman Park. It has softball fields, volley ball court with sand, bike trail, tennis courts, and pavillions with grills. But I wouldn't use those either. Lots of little parking lots for photo op.

There are two bowling ally's. One was just newly renovated with an arcade, pool tables, and a bar. It's a bit expensive though, you pay by the hour.

About 25-30 minutes from Rt. 224 is Quaker City raceway. It's not the greatest track in the world, but they hold test n' tune every Friday. $20 for unlimited runs.

There are about 3-4 hotels right off of 224 with Outback and Springfield Grill inbetween them and a road gives easy access to Wal-Mart from the hotels. There is also B&B Backstage infront of the Outback. They hold live concerts usually every weekend. Every now and then they'll get a celebrity singer, last year Alice Cooper stopped by.

And a half-hour north of Youngstown is Summit Racing HQ. They just renovated the showroom last year, so tons of stuff you can drool at.  :)

So anyone want to do a TGP meet?  8)

September 4?

Probably the most expensive stuff would be a hotel room and gas.

But my TGP is totaled.  :?  I suppose I could bring the bike.

Well, I'd be up for it, and I still have my 2 weeks of vacation time I haven't used, but the problem is:  1. The TSTE has many issues to work out, and I don't think it's roadtrip worthy, and 2. The TGP won't stay running at all at the moment (I don't think it's anything serious at all, just needs a major tune-up/overhaul of minor things), so I'm shit out of car for such an event.  I don't know how far into the future you're planning this, but I just secured some garage space to finally begin work on the TGP  :D  :D  :D , so if it's in about a month or so, I juuuuuust might be able to make this deal.  I'll keep an eye on the thread and see how things are developing.

If you decide to go, I'll consider it also as it's at least 9 hrs for me, and I could have someone to caravan with.  As long as my TA isn't running yet.

I'll go.  Let me know when and where and I'll be there.  I'm sure I'll be able to bring the 2 door if I don't have the STE done by then.  Hopefully I'll have the engine in the STE done by then so I can bring that and get some highway time with the new "performance build."  And TSTE #2 with color matching 5 spokes.

Hey guys, how does August 7 sound? It's 4 weeks away and it's a Saturday.

Sounds good to me.  That should be right around the time I get the STE done.  I'll be there.  Let me know where and what time and I'll see you there.
