TGP / STE parts price hikes (for Jeff M)

THIS ONE IS QUITE IMPORTANT AND SOON ALL WILL SEE WHAT I MEAN.

GM is killing us with parts pricing. I found a few months ago that the cost of the ABS Pump Motor Relay just shot up from $76 retail to $350 retail (it now comes with a new pump/motor, no thanks, I know TGP owners with over 200k on original pump/motor). Next I found that the Accumulator (which helps take out the relay from it being low on charger and cycling the pump/relay too often) jumped from a retail of $174 (I sold them for around $80 when I could get them at this price) to a new retail of $500!!! There is also 2 hard-parts in the tranny that shot up in price recently, the 4th clutch hub was around $90 retail, and is now $350, and the reverse reaction drum that was about $75 retail is now $220!!! When I asked my local GM parts guy what could be done, if me calling GMSPO (GM Service Parts Operations) was the best idea he said no, the best he recommended was to have all my TGP friends and owners call 1.800 Pontiac Cares so, WE NEED TO DO THIS TO HELP ALL OF US OUT!!! What our winning point should be is this, owners of a 12 to 13 year old car cannot afford to pay these prices for a car that may of only cost the owner $1,000 to $3,000 to begin with. The cost of these parts have gone up over 300% in one shot and that is totally ridiculous. IF, and it should be the one last thing that gets their attention is what they like calling Brand Loyalty, they will only upset current Pontiac GP/TGP owners with such acts of parts pricing and that we will never buy a Pontiac or GM car again, this pricing is no way to develop Brand Loyalty!!! The internet is a very powerful tool and it has been said that all it takes is someone knowing 5 people, who each know 5 more and so forth to get a hold of everyone on the net, we will be heard and it will hurt if GM/Pontiac does not retract these exorbitant price increases for parts on a 12 to 13 year old car and cease on any more. Now, I am still way too busy to do the rest of the research such as confirm the 1.800 number to call, and an address to send letters and/or emails regarding the same but if someone could help out, it would be helping themselves and every other TGP owner!!

Now as for the accumulator and other things we need and I can help out on, I have one accumulator here that I can look into that is not a GM part but from another manufacture, but I do not like the nut used to attach it, the nut is behind the big fat round accumulator, ending up near the firewall area which is a hard job to handle. The GM piece has the nut on the outside end where it is much easier to get to. The relay can be taken apart and the contacts cleaned and the contact arm aligned to make use of new meat, but this is not a job for everyone. I have sources for the tranny parts but still, the market dictated by GM’s price has raised these as well. Non the less, we need to get these parts priced back down where they belong, and make a point loud enough so as to stop who ever is making these increases, my guess is someone there in GMSPO is lining his job to try to impress the new big guy at GM (Bob Lutz) but is shooting himself in the foot if it burns current GM/Pontiac owners who might be looking to buy more GM parts for their prize possession, or considering going newer like the Supercharged GTP (that is still making the same hp it came out with 6 years ago, but that is another story so don’t get me started), we won’t do it and no one would after this sort of treatment, time to change brands it the point they need to understand we will go!!!

OK, I am off my soapbox, but we need to do this for all. Thanks in advance from me and to all of us for everyone that pitches in on this problem.

The accumulator is a lot cheaper from GMpartsdirect.com. $90 if I'm not mistaken. This is good for me, cause I have to order one. :)

EDIT: My bad...Chris, the number you have on your site is old and expired. That item is listed for $90...HOWEVER, when you add it to the cart, it adds the part with the new number..and it's $268!!!!!!

WTF over!  I have always loved Pontiacs and have owned a number of them.  Those guys are a$$holes for doing that.  But remember that its off the production line and it takes a whole lot of bucks to make parts that are not on the supply system.
