Hey everybody

Multi-function switch Q:

Minor annoyance here.  Neither of my turn signals activate correctly. I have to jack around with the multi function switch a bit to get either to come on. This tells me that either the contacts are bent, corroded or partially broken off. It brings me to the question: How easy would it be to rebuild or repair my multi function switch?[/b] The parts guy at the local Pontiac dealer wants $200+ for a new one, and I'm not quite that desperate yet.

Gas Q:

I have a station that has a pump with 100 octane "Racing Blue" gas. Anything wrong with running a tank of 100 octane?[/b]

My turn signals do not like to work either...  i hafta like hold the switch up to get the right one to work, and like wiggle the switch to get the left one to work...it's really gettin to be a pain in the ass.  Hopefully someone knows the answer to this one!

about the 100 octane fuel....

Chuck... I saw that fuel also.  Its at the station thats right by the McDonalds right?  I filled up my mothers Sebring there about a month ago, and saw the 100 octane.  I think it was well over $3.00 a gallon when i was there.   :(

So is there any damage to running that much octane?  Will our chips compensate for it, or... ?

Hi Zach!

Yeah the gas I am talking about is at the Citgo by the Micky D's like you said. And yeah, it's like $3.50 a gallon. I was thinking about burning a tank for fun but wanted to check here first.

Guys I ran a few different fuels in my 1991 GMC Syclone with Turbo V6.  I just got my TGP 2 days ago so I've only ran 93 octane in it so far but here's my opinion.

Higher octane fuel won't hurt anything as long as it's UNLEADED.  I've run a custom Xylene mix of fuel in my Syclone to obtain 100 Octane Unleaded and had no problems.  I am sure running 100 Octane Unleaded pump gas would have the same results.  I use a datalogging laptop scan tool to monitor knock retard and the higher octane, the less knock retard occurs (where the ECM hears detonation and reduces timing as a safeguard).

I did run 4 gallons of 110 Leaded fuel once, and it made my spark plugs begin to have brown deposits.  My friend runs 110 Leaded fuel a lot and his spark plugs get fouled quickly.  On both our vehicles, we haven't had any problems with our O2 Sensors and both our O2s are old.

So my recommendation is, use any unleaded high octane fuel you want as long as it's not over 100 octane (all fuel over 100 octane is leaded, from what I've seen.)  To be honest, I don't think there is going to be much performance gain on the TGPs unless you are running high boost and even then I thought Jeff M. said the TGP fuel injectors are running at their limit already at the boost levels of his chip (12 PSI?).  On other motors like the Turbo Buick 3.8 and the Syclone/Typhoon 4.3, the boost can be raised higher with stock injectors and the limit of 93 octane can be reached, requiring the higher octane fuels.  On the SyTys, almost everyone puts on an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator that allows you to increase the fuel pressure which makes the fuel injectors act like they are larger than they really are.

Sorry for rambling on and on, I hope this isn't too confusing :(
