Ok, I want to place a generic cone filter on the end of my turbo. What would I need to move in order to put on there. I've seen it done on another TGP, found it on Chris A's website.

If I have to move the coolant over-flow bottle, where would I put it?

As I remember, that cone filter does not flow enough for a TGP, the K&N does how ever. Trying to save $15-$25 will cause more expense in the long run. IMO.

I use RU-1390, got it from www.ajusa.com for I think $33 shipped.  I trimmed the coolant cap and it clears it fine.

Looks like it's cheaper:

Would you have any pics on what you did to your cap?

Any of the K&Ns should fit without worrying about moving coolant bottles and such, I think.  But related to that, if we do move the coolant bottles to make way for a true CAI, couldn't we just use the older style bottle that goes over the radiator, since there's no air intake in the way?  Or is the radiator too thick to allow that to work on a TGP without some rigging?

Pre-production TGP's had the coolant bottle located over the radiator.

Why not even the later style one? Might be a pita for those who are in their computer often, but the one that sits on the passenger side over the computer is out of the way.

But doesn't that one cover the fuse box too?

Tried it doesn't fit (used a 1993 15 bucks waisted), the lines from the water pump get in the way. this was my old setup but the overflow bottle kept . . . . . . . well . . . . . . overflowing onto the ground (not big enough but probably the best setup I've seen). I moved the battery to the trunk and had the air filter right were the battery was. I even cut a hole in the battery case to protect it from hot air.

EDIT:   I almost forgot I had to purchase a different compter cover from a grand prix that did not have that big hole in it where the stock air intake went to. I will try this setup again after I buy a bigger overflow bottle (probably a quart) and tell you how it works out.

Odd, considering it was factory on my n/a 3.1..

Oh, I see now.. the turbo has a t-pipe in the line that extends out it a bit.. I'd assume that goes to the turbo, I don't know without going outside to look.

nevermind.

True, I forgot about that.  So this might be the best, most viable option.  Easy to get ahold of, natural fit, and out of the way of everything.  Even if I didn't plan on a true CAI, it would be nice to get just because it would be easier to access the bottle there, as opposed to where the stock TGP bottle is located.

Yes the setup looks similar but look closer. The N/A 3.1 pulls air in were the intercooler is, mine is run to were the battery was (literally) and pulls in air from the fender.

And yes the older coolant bottle will work but not for the way I set mine up. Although I think my engine bay looks cleaner this way than if I would put the older coolant bottle in.
