Ok, this is wierd and has me stumped. Its smoking, white or light blue, it depends, but the Trans Vacuum Mod lines are dry, and it still smokes when u unplug it, BUT heres the wierd thing, it seems to only start smoking when u shift into a gear, i leave it idle, just fine, no smoke, or very very little, i shift it and smoke starts right up, i thinkt he PCV is original, and its majorly wasted, theres also Oil in my TB, but thats it, no oil before that, so its not coming from my turbo. So would a PCV do this or would it be somthing more? I have 71k on my car and little shaft play on the turbo

I just read on the other board you have not checked the turbo oil return line.

If you even think it is stock or hasn't been replaced recently...REPLACE IT!

Prospeeder

How do i check it! and a write up or instructions or a basic walkthrough or idea of how to replace them, and a part number, im thinkin thats it too....the o2 and Plugs look fantastic!

EDIT:
To replace your Oil return line, go down to a local place that makes hydraulic hoses and tell them that you need a 5/8 inch by 12 inch ID oil return hose for a turbo they will get you the right stuff, it will cost 5 to 8 dollars. the piece you need is 10 1/2 inches long, after you remove your old one, cut the new one to the same length. If you can't find any send me $12 and I'll 3 day you a 1 foot piece. 8.50 hose + 3.50 shipping. (I use a good quality hose that costs me $8.50 a foot and I have to drive 45 miles 1 way to get it!!!) the oil return line comes from the bottom of the turbo and goes back into the front/right side of the engine block just above the Starter. It is a black hydraulic line and there are only 3 lines coming from the turbo, it is the only nonmetallic one it has clamps on both ends(its easier to take out the air filter box and it's hoses also take off the intercooler metal pipe and the rubber hose that goes into the turbo to get to where the Oil return line clamps to the turbo).it takes some feeling around but you'll get it take it off of the block side first, then slide it the rest of the way off, then look inside and you'll see if theres a separation.

HAHA found some! so they just clamp on? And are there actual OEM replacments or is that hydraulic line a good idea? I read its very stiff, and hard to position, is there a better alternitive? or tips?

OEM is like $185 ....  it is not a big deal, it is a little stiff but still workable, the clamps are a modified hose clamp that the clamps base metal strip wraps all the way around the hose before the serated area for the screw tighter touches it...

It will take a little while to completely quit smoking because of the oil going through the intercooler and hoses. Also keep in mind that depending on long it ran that way it might plug your cat converter...

No just run it, if you cat converter is OK, cool, if not you will have to replace it, after a month I'd take it down to a muffler shop and have them open it up and check it.

hey idbeast

my car smokes like hell after about 15 mins running, and i just had the turbo rebuilt, your saying check the oil return line commin from the turbo cause it could be clogged,  now i noticed oil commin out the front of the turbo like dripping out, and it has to be comming out the exhause side too cause when i pull the O2 out it smoke out of there, all this while haveing the intercoller to throttle body tube disconnected. so i know its not pusing smoke through the engine.

Do you think my turbo was rebuilt wrong??  or is bad again??

it only does it when it gets hot, i'm 98% sure its not the engine burning oil cause i just did head gaskets and had the head machined and cleaned and pressure checked and the topend all rebuilt.

Its got to be the turbo , i'm so convinced but i want other imput before i spend more money on this damn thing..

dude, definatly replace the OIl return line, its the soft line that comes off the buttom of the turbo right under the inlet, its soo easy, mine had the inner lining blistering and blocking oil flow, so oil would pressureize from not having free flow, and will pop out both seals. replace it, i got mine from here

Have you ever consider yet have your own NICE oil return line?  This is what we did when we did the engine swap and have 0 problems at all relating to any oil problems with the turbo.  If you have access to a welder or someone who can, its very easily done, and may save you lots of heartache. :?

Sorry I didn't see this, It doesn't pop the seals, they are a carbon seal, it does however let oil leak by them, when you fix the restriction in the Oil Return line it stops the pressure on the carbons and they work like they are supposed to.
