Changed the Title Kenny: Dave

I am looking forward to this race season! I am so tired of NASCAR around every corner. Now I can sit back and watch a race and not feel like my IQ has dropped 10 points everytime a commentator opens his mouth.

Well this year should be interesting with the changes they are making to the rule book. I have a feeling that next year or even in the course of this year there will be an allowance of turbo-chargers again. FIA has to run the fine line of safety and spectator enthusiasm. If the cars are only off pace by 2 or 3 seconds then it may not be noticable...but if they gap much more people will scream that they are too slow...including the drivers.

Oh well...I doubt this will get much as far as replies, but I am ready for the fun to begin without losing my intelligence!    8)

QuoteEngines
For 2006, engines are reduced in size from the previous 3-litre V10s to 2.4-litre V8s. The aim is to reduce costs and improve safety. With similar engine speeds, the change is expected to cut peak power by around 200bhp, which in turn is likely to add around three to five seconds to lap times at most circuits. The FIA may allow some teams to use 2005-spec V10s if they do not have access to competitive V8. The FIA will enforce a rev limit on any V10s to ensure performance is comparable with that of a V8.

Tyres
After a season?s absence, tyre changes during races return to Formula One in 2006. The thinking behind this is that the reduced engine size will offset any performance gain. Drivers also have access to slightly more tyres than in 2005 - seven sets of dry-weather, four sets of wet-weather and three sets of extreme-weather. Drivers must make a final choice of dry-weather compound ahead of qualifying.

Weekend schedule
In a slight change to the Grand Prix weekend format, Saturday morning now features a single, one-hour practice session, as opposed to two, 45-minute sessions. It takes place between 1100 and 1200. Qualifying is an hour later than before, commencing at 1400

My Fellow countryman JV has one more chance with the new BMW team so i hope he goes out on a strong note.

Boring!! What an understatement! I watched about 30 minutes of Daytona because it is Daytona...but I fell asleep on it.  Woke up after the race was over and didn't care to see who won. I knew SPEED TV would have more than enough post race coverage that I would see waiting for WRC and Motorcycle racing to come on.

If someone was to make another channel for racing...the way SPEED used to be with a huge array of motorsports coverage they would be ranked #1 within hours of it's first airing. I sent an email to SPEED asking when they were going to change their name again. They went from Speed Television to SPEED. I asked when they were changing to NASCAR. They never answered!

Seems like OLN (Outdoor Living Network) is covering more and more motorsports as time goes by. When I was in Hungary they had Motor TV. It was awesome! It is an EU company and they cover everything from World Motorsports to local racing clubs. Anything with tires and a motor was on there. That is something they need ot do in the US for sure! 8)

wohoo, cant wait for F1 to begin again!!   Those changes should be interesting to see after the first few races. SHould be a good season none the less. :-)

I see the USA GP at Indy is back on............

wonder how that will go over  :?

TGPilot

We shall see. I have a feeling the die-hard fans like me will look past the BS of last year and push on. Want to take bets now on the spectator turn out though? I say between 40 and 50,000 this year.

I wanted to go to the F1 Indy race...but it will be too close to schedule because of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. PPHC is the Saturday of the F1 weekend at Indy and I am very active in the PPHC every year. Would be a shame to miss my annual breath of morning air on the side of Pikes Peak at 12,000 feet above sea-level. There is nothing like it in the world to me. To see the sun come up from the east across the valley. Hearing the cars running up the mountain on qualifying day...oh man it gets my blood moving just thinking about it!    8)

That is what my new HDTV DVR is for! Bought it specifically so the wifey and I won't miss another F1 race like we did last year. She was a huge fan 2 years ago when Baumgartner was racing. He was a Hungarian driver...he never did very good...but hell he sure was trying!  8)

Man is Kimi the shit or what??? 22nd all the way up to third by the end!! :o

I like the tire changing allowed again. Makes for a bit more interesting strategies and allows Shumi to get up towards the front. Was funny to hear the commentators on Speed say that many felt that last years tire rule was to keep Shumi from winning!

Did you see the Cosworth V8's? 20,000 RPM!!! For race reliability they said they necked down the Cosworth's to 18,500-19,000, but next race they may open them full rev's.

It is great to sit down with my wife and watch motorsports we both enjoy! :D

Obviously you didn't see the end of todays race. Pretty exciting. JJ is the kid of the day. Matt just didn't have enough.

Yea some of it is boring but the start and the restarts are pretty good. This finish today was excellent although I don't like G W C endings.
