Sorry I have been dealing with my pilots license stuff again and got NTSB in my head.

It is NHTSA Recall ID# 97V058000 It effects ALL W-bodied cars from what I am reading. I am searching more to find the exact wording. If I can not find it I will have my friends at Pontiac here in the springs print it out. 8)

Alright, im goin back tomarrow! So if they still say no, tell them ill just file a complaint with the NHTSA, fun stuff, the LAST thing i want is to be driving down the road and have my engine fall to the ground and not be able to steer

Now, my car HAS been in michigan for 14 years, and then was brought here, to washington, so they can look up its past history correct?

Also, you say they HAVE to perform safety recalls no matter the age or milage, they wouldnt replace my dads sliverado windshield wiper circuit board because they said it had to many miles on it, was that totally illeagle and we could go back and make them fix it still?

I'm bringing my STE into the dealer on the 22nd to get the tranny work done, and although my cradle and bolts are in great shape (because I replaced all the bolts myself a couple years ago   ) it doesn't need the work done, but I'll bring my dads TGP in there at the same time and give them the recall info on it and if they won't do anything about it I'm gonna ask them to go for a little drive with me to see if they feel that it is safe with the cradle creaking and you being able to physically feel it moving underneath the car.  I'll also see if they'll throw it on the hoist so I can show them where the cradle had to have plates welded to it where it was rotted through.  Then if they don't do anything I'll mention a lawyer and see what comes of it.  So on the 22nd we'll see!!!

AHHH, they said they go off of a GM Recall Data base, and the NHTSA numbers mean nothing to them, and GM has no recalls open for any grand prixs from 88-91. THey told me to call the 1800 numbers from the NHTSA and see if they can get some kind of GM number or somthing  :?

NOOOO!! What the hell, i called Pontiac, they said yes, there is the cradle bolt recall, but it doesnt pertain to Your specific vehicle, and i cannot pull up any info on where it was originally sold (because it beeing over 10 years old ) nor if the prodcedure has been done, according to this, it wasnt even affected. AHHHH Its the fucking TGP VIN number! Damnit, what should i do??

buy a torch, a 3/4" drive 3 foot ratchet and some sockets to go along with it.

Have someone take a look at it and inspect the washers for wear.  Make sure they aren't rusting and you will be fine.

Yea, they couldn't pull up anything on our car here either. Our service manager said it was too old.

I can only assume ours has been done. Especially since we bought it from the original owner who still lives in the same town where he bought it.

I'm going to try another dealer in town, even though all their information comes from GM DealerWorld, which is the same for each dealership.
I'm not expecting anything different though.

Jess just told me (and I had totally forgot this) that when we bought the car, he told us that no recall work had been done because he never got the notices.

I decided to call Pontiac directly tonight to see if they could get me any information.
They showed no open recalls on the car.
If anyone else wants to call them here's the number I used:

1-800-762-2737
then press
4 for Customer assistance
then press
2 for product recalls
then press
1 For english
wait for the menu to finish speaking, and stay on the line. You'll eventually be connected to a CSR.
I just explained to them that I was looking for open recalls on my 90 Pontiac Grand Prix Mclaren, and gave him the VIN number. Easy as that.

Hope that helps.
