This is by far my favorite time of year.  The sun is warm, the trees are budding, birds are back, windows down!!  Took the car to get inspected Friday and took the car for a road trip this weekend.  Left Saturday morning to go to Ogdensburg, NY near the Alex Bay bridge to Canada.  Nice drive, car ran good, except it was skipping and jumping a bit on Saturday when it was raining, and not today when it was dry.   I brought the computer and the cable just in case and ran a few logs today, maybe someone can check them out for me.   ;)

So it seems to be running great, I got awesome mileage!!  I've gotten 309 miles out of this tank and still have 1/4 to go.  I am a bit leary however as I have some stabilizer in there and know that some gas can make the guage not work properly.  So I am watching it but damn still, 310 miles is great for this car, last year I was only getting 220-230, before I fixed the vacuum leak at the ball and a few other problems.  I haven't really even put 3000 miles on this car yet with the new motor, maybe 2400 now.  Do engines not broken in get worse mileage than broken in??

Summer is coming!! :icon_cool:

My 5-speed normally gets 400 miles to a 14 gallon fill up. The guage scares me to death when it gets right on the lowest tick mark..yet it always has 2 gallons left. One of these days it will be off and I will get frikkin' stranded!

Normally a fresh motor will get worse mileage than a broken in motor. At least from my experience. A new motor is a tight motor...the tighter the more friction and harder strain on itself to spin.  :icon_cool:

I noticed my car on the last tick has 2 gallons left too, lol, i get like 250-270 miles to a tank with mixed driving , even with my original pipe, wich still equals out to be like 15 mpg

when I rebuilt my 2.0 L 4 cyl. motor it ran great from the first turn of the key. And it was wery tight... never had a trace of extra friction from anything. once the assembly lube melted off we changed the oil and put 10w30 in and 3-400 miles later it was broke in. It was hard to keep my foot out of it. was a 5 speed. this was back in 1993 and if I saw a turbo I would try to race it and get destroyed. :icon_rolleyes: I was only 18 and wouldnt hear of the TGP until 2000 or '01 when I bought mine.

well i just got a setback before i get the CS out  :icon_evil:

when i removed the turbo and crossover 2 weeks ago i broke off 2 SS bolts that hold the DP to the Turbine.

well i was gonna bring it to  shop tomorrow and PAY to make t someone Else's problem

my dad got at it this morning a tried to drill out thems bolts........ :icon_rolleyes:

result: one drilled out crooked and threads are screwed, and the bolt is not even out yet  :icon_mad:

the other is still all in one piece with a small drill hole in it with a BUSTED off drill bit in that hole, which makes it impossible to continue to drill.

so I'm at a loss about what to do.......??????

I have another spare T25 here and first thing tomorrow I'm sending it to Phoenix Turbo (cheapturbo.com) for a service, HPC turbine and polished compressor just like my current one. and then deal with this later....

just wanna drive this thing

rant over...

Shit, it's been 60-70* here the past week, but the wind has been blowing like hell every damn day. 30-40 Mph, had gusts over 60 mph today. That kind of wind completely ruins a good day.
But the car has been running great, just need to get that accumulator swapped out, and the AC recharged again and she'll be set for now. Tires and struts are coming this summer though, I noticed the tires were dry rotted badly while I was cleaning yesterday. Alway something to do.  :icon_cool:

hope to be driving mine soon.  never really have been able to drive it yet besides the drive home from Denver last October when i got it.

now that i have the brakes fixed the crossover pipe is really the only thing keeping me from driving the TSTE.  i'm tempted to steal the crossover pipe from my Cutlass just so i can finally drive it!  BUT i'm determined to bring the Cutlass to the track soon so it will have to wait.  i hate to admit it but an automatic is sounding pretty good lately :leaving:

the weather has been really nice here lately but hell, my cars aren't nice enough to garage over the winter anyway :icon_lol:

I've been driving mine off & on all year since we don't really have winters here. I was planning on cleaning it up real well and driving it over the weekend since it was pretty nice out, but I've been really sick since Friday evening so my plans got shot to shit. :icon_cry:

Well I've gotta say that I am much happier with the Birchmount rear leaf so far this year.  Much quieter than it was last summer after the drop, I have the poly pieces in correctly now and it seems to have quited down almost entirely.  I didn't drive it today but I was very impressed with the way it sounded this weekend, much better than it did last year.

Now I've got to fix the A/C, replace the bolts on the rocker covers (rubber seals are leaking) and then fix the rattle on the rear head downpipe bracket, fix that damn humming from the stereo and then concentrate on saving some $$ to fix the body imperfections.  94+ rear brake upgrade this summer and STB's front and rear.  I am going to make myself a replica of the cutty vert STB I have.  We'll see how that pans out.

I need to find a hood to replace the one I have.. anyone in the NE sees one please let me know.

Dave can't wait to see that Cutty again, I'd like to organize a meet somwhere in the NE this summer, for real this time, maybe a weekend warrior campaign, would like to dyno my car to see what kind of whp it makes.  Anyone interested I really think that Syracuse would be a good place to go, I'd even go to Ottawa if I had too. :icon_cool:

I met a Canadian guy in Watertown NY this weekend, complimented my car, and I mentioned the temp drop, saying "I came from Binghamton and it was damn near 70, its almost 45 here!!"

He responded with, "eh?"

Even the northern NY'ers have a bit of the accent.  But everyone that isn't from NYC is a northerner in this state.

Well Dave that's a bummer.  :icon_frown: Take your turbo to a machine shop that has a sinker type EDM (electrical discharge machine) no wire feed machines. They will take a carbon rod and burn out your broken bolts in minutes. You may not even have to clean the threads up. Some automotive maching shops may have these machines but I would figure on going to a regular MS.

Drill and tap the screwed one to the next size and use an allen head bolt. Heli coil is another option. Allot cheaper than a rebuild. Don't forget the anti-seez when you put it together. :icon_wink:

Good luck
