CSI

I purchased a red 90 TGP in Februaury.  It had only 15,800 miles, with dealer plastic still on the floor.  I have been using it for a daily driver and love it.  The only thing I did to the car is put the TG160 and thermostat, as i live in West Texas and already getting into the mid 90's with triple digit temps throuout summer.  Everyone that has seen the car loves it, they said they can't believe i drive it every day.  I now have 18,200 miles, and want your opinion as to drive it or not.  I bought it to enjoy, but don't want to ruin a rare car either.  Thanks :icon_biggrin:

Car is ment to be enjoyed in my opinion......

only time i don't drive mine is in the CDN winters here so that like 6 months a year  :icon_lol:

Valid point though i dunno if you will see one of these cars (1989-1990) TGP's or TSTE's in a few years become sought after collectors cars like you see on the Barrett Jackson Auctions  :icon_neutral:

so i don't know if what your doing is actually called "ruin a rare car"

hard to say but i say enjoy it but also take care of it well  :icon_mrgreen:

People who buy cars to park it in a garage piss me off! If I own a car I drive her...hard at times but she is driven.

On the flip side though such a low mileage car might be sheilded from the world under a tarp and driven now and again on weekends and the like.

Truly it is a preference thing and like Dave said with documented miles it would bring more value later. Problem is our TGP's have since to get the publicity to make it a desireable car.

Your choice man..you paid for her and if I did I would drive her also. :thumb:

I say drive her. Thats what she was built to do..

I have some rare cars, and every one of them gets drive. Apart from the cars in my Sig (the 90 TGP, and the 89 STE AWD), I also own a 69 Camaro RS/SS with 19k original documented miles, a 33 plymouth 3 window coupe, and a 29 plymouth opera sedan. The camaro doesnt get driven much as the miles attest to. but the rest are driven very regularly. Except the 33, it was totaled 2 years ago on my way to a car show in Wyoming. The tranny or rear dif locked up, spun me out, and I ended up flipping the car end over end. Not something I want to do again let me tell ya...

One more vote for "drive it." Although, I personally wouldn't use it as a daily driver.

We need pictures of this low mileage TGP ASAP!!!!!! ;)

Agreed on this one.  Unless you go all out and fix all the problem it has, it really is going to be hard as a daily driver since it will start needing more and more stuff that will pop up replaced.  15k miles in 16 years, it sat A LOT, so surely there is some stuff on it that will be going to the graveyard if not already there.

Oh and X2 on the pictures :icon_eek:

CSI

:icon_mrgreen:Thanks for the input.  I will enjoy driving the TGP.  I will work to get pics posted soon. :icon_wink:

Mr. CSI........Is a career CSI and I'm sure also a fan of the TV show  ;)

I prefure CSI Miami the best....Caruso has way better one liners at the begining of the show... :icon_razz:

CSI

Not a big fan of the show, but do like the Vegas show best.  I much prefer the Sopranos and Deadwood.   Watching CSI makes me  :motz2:

Nobody realy likes 80-90s sports cars as REAL collector cars.

The Callaway Corvett sold for pennies at the Berret Jackson auction.  :icon_neutral:

The prototype TGP was selling for the price of a used mid compact car.  :icon_question:

Everyone wants jalapies, musclecars or flashy italian stuff.

Some sy/tys and GN sell for about 15-17K with 55k miles on the clock.
A TGP would go for 10K at most.
Just enjoy it. But I would contact Jeff M (IF hes still into show/ restore stuff) if you wanto keep it new. By now...you'd want the ABS system flushed , rear calipers regreased, trans flush, turbo oil return hose replaced. Theise would save you headached down the road.
Turbocharged 88 IMSA Beretta GTX <-dam stright.
90 ASC/McLaren Black TGP.
