F**king Car  :icon_rolleyes:

So today was a productive day...

Washed the Car
Vacuumed the Interior
Detailed the Interior
Changed that Ignition Lock  :icon_mrgreen:
Changed that Pesky Ball Joint

Fit all that in and managed to watch all the World Cup Games today also

SO..............I'm Changing the ball joint on the drivers side and I'm looking around a bit  :icon_eek: God DAMN Cradle/sub frame is busted!!!

the 34mm Front Swaybar in the front has pulled out the 2 bolts that hold it to the cradle mounting position, by "Pulled Out" I mean it cracked the cradle and pulled the welded inner nuts that those bolts fasten to RIGHT OUT   :icon_cry:

So i guess I'm shopping for a fairly rust free cradle/subframe to clean up and maybe beef up to replace this rusted/busted old thing.

I had noticed the front suspension not handling the best lately  (just gotta laugh) when performing some skilled maneuvers the front seemed a bit to "dodgy" than it had been so i was gonna change the struts sometime next week.

oh well another project surfaces

anyone have a write up on a cradle/sub frame swap?  :icon_razz:

TGPilot

You know what it was???? Your custom chip caused a massive power spike where it shouldn't have and that in turn caused the tires to bite in unevenly because your 5-speed is lighter than the auto tranny which then caused a lateral uneven transfer of weight and you actually pulled the front tire off the ground on acceleration! OH yeah...yup yup...I have seen it before!

Oh well man every time I get under the car and don't see an oil or gear box leak I call it good and don't look around anymore! I didn't see it so nothing is wrong under there! ;) I need to rebuild the entire front and rear suspension on my car and I am not looking forward to it! :icon_mrgreen: :icon_cool:

Yea Davis I've seen some chatter on this board or the other regarding the sub frame. It's a f*** bitch to change cause the whole front suspension is attached to it. Gotta have it aligned after you get it done. Gott hold the motor and tranny up while your replacing it  If you want specifices pm me. been there done that. To explain everything might be so big it would crash the site. It's quite a job. I would consider(as I have done ) welding the bracket on. Heck weld them both unless you have rust throughout the SF. Good luck. :icon_twisted: It's quit a project. :icon_sad:

Its pretty rusted after further inspection of it.....

definitely a replacement would be in order rather than a patch job.

no word from that dude on the other forum the guys above mentioned......the junk yard still has my scrapped TGP's (both actually) they have good condition cradles so im gonna check them out tomorrow and see if i can grab one of those and then prep it to go in this car.

Don't expect to get that subframe from buffalo.  http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php/topic,46368.0.html

Looks like the car has been towed to a yard and he'll need to pay storage/towing fees to get it back and I don't know if he'll be doing that....

Good luck with the replacement!!
