Hey guys, I am new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I have a 1990 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 and am almost done swapping the TGP parts onto it. I have a picture of my car below. All I am missing now is my 2-bar MAP sensor and my K&N air filter, and she is done. I was wondering what kind of times I should expect to run with the auto trans? Thanks guys.

Good looking car man.

Welcome to the forums! ;)

Since your Z24 weighs less I'll guess low 14's, however as many will tell you its about several things from condition of engine (good compresion, oil pressure, worn out parts), to tune, traction, driver skill, etc, etc, etc.

Get yourself a baseline - at a track of course  :icon_wink: then work from there.

Yeah thats what I was figuring, low 14s. I am hoping to be able to run around 10 psi., maybe 11. My engine has around 96,000 miles on it, and is in really good running condition. My transmission is what I am worried about most, seeing as though I will be around 200 whp on stock internals. Hopefully, with good luck I can break out a 13.8 or 13.9. Thanks for the comments so far guys.

Thats a clean Z24! Have you considered a Getrag 282 swap instead of using your TH125?

yeah i have thought about it, but i really don't want to go to a manual trans if at all possible. i figure it would be less of a hassle to build up the auto a little bit. i don't plan on going more than 250 whp, so a built up auto should be able to handle that.

Ok guys, I got the last of my parts today. The car should be ready to run tomorrow hopefully. As for the trans, I think it will be alright for what I am doing now, but I found a rebuild kit from Alto Performance that might be good. Does anyone know anything about Alto Performance or tried their products by chance? Thanks guys.

They sell good products, I was just reading about them in a Transmission publication.

Awesome. Well, that sounds like the route I will be going then. What does everyone suggest for an intercooler on here? I would like to find one that has the inlet and outlet on opposite sides, that way i can use my same charge pipes. It also needs to have good fitment as well. Thanks.
