WTB: Set of New/Used injectors

I really need a new set of injectors, i dont have the money for brand new ones yet, but if some1 has a set of GOOD injectors for cheap, let me know, TGP, or 3.8 Riviera injectors. Does anyone know any other 3.8's that use the same injectors???? The series 1 doesnt does it?

Hey do you happen to have a junkyard or U-Pull nearby? Call them up and they can usually pull a set for cheap.

All you are really looking for is a gen 2 car with a series 2 3800 non-supercharged. The Riviera is just what I went with and have had very few problems with. They are really easy to pull off to since the fuel rail is on top of the intake manifold.

alright, do those 3800 Series II ones go bad as often as ours? Or did they fix that issue? OMG i just remeberd, the dealership im friends with, has what i think was a blown 3800 V6 Series II in the back of his shop, im gonna snag the injectors out of it if he will let me. Theres also a for sure blown engine, but i dunno if its a 3800 or 3300, its got the plastic intake manifold, so is that a dead giveaway its a 3800 Series II? If not what are some dead giveaways it is a 3800, it doesnt have the cover that says "3800 SERIES II" on it

What model/series is it? I.e., Grand Prix SE, GT, GTP? That info can really help. Plus, there should be a tag in front of the radiator where it shows the belt routing, and on there it should show the size engine as well as spark plug gap, etc.

From the way I understood it, was that its just the engine sitting there.

I think that the 3100s had it stamped into the upper intake manifold and then there is the 3800 without the supercharger and the 3800 with the supercharger.  But i've only seen my L67.

3800's has plastic upper intakes. The 3300's had aluminum upper intakes.

Or at least, I have never seen a 3300 any other way..

Erik, Ford yellow tops are another possibility. They're in ALL kinds of Ford's. Crown Vic's and Grand Marquis' w/ the 4.6's have them and they're really easy to remove from them.

6 brand new yellow/orange tops on ebay for $168.15 shipped, that's not a bad price at all.

I might have a full set of Ford injectors I can part with cheap. I would send them in to AFI(Affordable fuel injection) to have them ultrasonically cleaned and flow tested before installing them though as they're used and been sitting for a while. AFI charges $70 to clean and flow test a set of 6. I've used them and Witchhunter performance and had great results with both. I would send in any junkyard injectors you plan to use, I'd rather know that they're flowing the proper amount myself...better safe than sorry. ;) I'll check to make sure I still have a set of six and then I'll PM you.

I went and got the injectors, it was indeed a 3800 Series II. Probably out of a 99-2000 somthing, so thier still fairly new injectors. They smell like old ass gas, is there anything i could rinse them with or soak them in to get any grime out of them, or am i gonna end up having to send them to an injector cleaner to ensure there ok. I think there prolly fine, probably better than the peices of shit in my car, they leak bad, im getting clouds of black smoke when starting and really hard warm starts and you can smell gas when you start it.

Like I said above, I would send in any injectors that came from a junkyard. There is no telling how long they've sat for, so they could be gummed up internally. The cost of replacing or rebuilding your engine is much higher than the cost of having the injectors cleaned. ;) The two sets I've had cleaned were well worth it, some of the injectors were flowing poorly and had poor spray patterns. Afterwards, they flowed within 1cc/min of one another and the engine I put them in ran smoother than it ever had. If you do go ahead and swap the injectors in without cleaning them, I wouldn't be doing any WOT runs since you don't know if they're capable of delivering enough fuel...

Agreed! The problem with buying used, is in the long run, you spend the same as new...atleast, I have. My suggestion would have also been to buy new, but since you bought used (not bad), treat your car right and have them pulsed/cleaned.

i spent a wopping 15$ on them, so i suppose i shoudl send them to be pulsed and cleaned, thanks!

In my experience, reconditioning used ones is MUCH cheaper than buying new. I just sent off the injectors from my dad's mustang to have them cleaned since two(or more) were leaking. $108 total spent on them and they're like-new again. To replace the set would have cost $300 w/ shipping(they're Lucas/Delphi 38lb'ers).

Since it's related, there's a set of brand new Ford yellow/orange top injectors on ebay at the moment for $160 shipped, that's a really GOOD deal for someone needing them for their TGP. ;)
