after reading about others using 3800 vin"k" injectors and having my stock tgp develop  a strange rich running condition setting a code 45 (rich exhaust) i borrowed a set of injectors from a friend who had a couple of 3800's in pieces. they were from a '99 firebird, the same from 95-99. after going through the diagnostics and ruling all other possibilities i changed the injectors. new replacement injectors were 130 dollars a piece so i wanted to be sure that was the problem so i tried the 3800 injectors. it sure fixed the problem. i have a tech 1 so i will be monitoring the blm and fuel int. #s to see if it runs lean at full throttle. i really don't know what #s i should have seen with the original injectors but at least i will see now. so far runs and idles beautiful. this car has 105,00 miles and has been very reliable.

many of us have indeed gone with replacement injectors and noticed huge differences in reliability and driveability.  I know that I had at least 4 leaky injectors and caused a brutal hard start and smoking afterwards, but only when hot.  Not good for the oil let me tell you that.

Many have gone with the "k" injectors, I wonder if the "1" motor (s/c) would be any different, or perhaps better suited for our engines?  Make sure you aren't running lean or you may find a melted piston, which is not good.

I myself am running Bosch pink top injectors, I was leary, I don't trust anything Bosch, at least for a GM car, but so far so good, but I've only run 1000 miles.

Are you staying with what you have or are you looking for alternates?  We were getting sets of 6 for around $250-$300 from a guy on Ebay.

haven't looked at specs for lb rating for injectors but after reading the other posts about the 3800 injectors and since they were available i thought i would try it. i told my daughter not to go full throttle until i could do more research. it started running bad on july 4th and i couldn't get it fixed until the other day so she couldn't take it to milan dragway with my son and i last saturday. i am looking into getting something better for the injectors but atleast she can drive again.

Vin K injectors flow right inline with our stock ones(~22lbs/hr).

If anyone sees this thread and is looking for injectors, check out "sprayitracing" on ebay. He has had a few sets of Ford yellow top injectors listed lately that are much cheaper than buying from anywhere else. :icon_mrgreen:

ever since i installed the 3800 injectors the car seems to hard start after sitting for along period of time. i will have to check it out. the fuel pump ,tank and filter are only a couple of years old, pressure is at 46 psi when the pump is first run so after my daughter gets home from work i will have to see. it didn't do this even with the bad injectors before maybe coincidence but will check any way.

Hard start sounds like leaking injectors.

a friend of mine located some injectors. evidently through gm the parts are discontinued. but he tried and got me a set so i will be putting them in this weekend. the car doesn't run too bad but my daughter says it doesn't run like it used to.

you really don't want to buy the GM injectors, simply because of the price, and others may add to that.  What do they get over $100 a piece for them?

well i did install them. what a difference. the fuel int. and block learn are staying a lot closer to the 128 mid point , the idle is smoother. it is possible that the vin k injectors i had were not 100% and one may have been leaking a little. my buddy had them laying around from a 99 firebird motor he bought so i really don't know there history. i put them in to verify my suspicion about the stock 106,000 mile original injectors were leaking causing an extremely rich running condition.
