So, before I took the engine out of the car, it seemed like most of the time it would bog down/try to stall when I'd tap the gas when it was still cold, but after a few minutes it was fine. I have the UIM off currently, and when i was about to put it back together, I noticed that the hose from the PCV valve to the underside of the UIM had some cracks/breaks right at the UIM connection. Jay had said that it never did that until the last time he had the UIM off, so that was part of the reason for taking it off anyways. Could this cause it to cause said symptoms?

Well, its a source of major vacume for the PCV, so if its leaking out, then yes, running issues will be the least of the problems.

a large vacuum leak like that will cause a high idle speed and a very low iac count on a scanner. when i recently put my rebuilt engine back in I forgot the hose to the hvac. I couldn't get the hvac modes to change , it turned out I had the hose from hvac to the tee connected but the other hose that goes to the throttle body wasn't connected to the tee , I forgot that one. The idle would surge when I would put in gear and when the car was warming up the idle would hunt up and down until the car warmed up. I just thought the idle was maybe from the 1.6:1 rockers I installed .
