I'd like to know what the diameter of the TGP X-over is
my buddy will be welding on "interlock" flex sections in place of the old ones.
he needs to know what size to order.
I drive the car so I can't take it out untill he has the new flex pipes.

has anyone ever made a larger pipe...like actuall turbo headers or larger x-over?
I'm sure with a larger turbo doing something like this would be beneficial.

I ordered 2" inch ones and I think that its overkill, 1.75 should be good with the stock x-over

Yeah, I just couldn't figure out a way to work in the one member who claimed that adding a valance to his lightbulb kept it from overheating...

1.75"...gezze! my GTP x-over is 2.5"
wow, that's small.

No kidding. If he has the machines, why not just make a fresh one with larger pipes. The x-over is a real choke.

yeah I would think 2" or 2.25 make great flow

Bigger is not always better guys.  If you make it too big it could actually cause turbulance in the exhaust and hamper performance.  Believe it or not an engineer actually designed that crossover pipe for the size of the turbo and engine exhaust velocity.  But I guess if you want to experiement be my guest just don't expect any significant gains.  I suggest you pick up a book called maximum boost by corky bell.  It might help you in this endevor.

Jeff(kuntzie) made 300whp using the stock x-over with an upgraded turbocharger, so even though it's small, it can support a good bit of power.

I know that everything that went into the motor/exhaust was all specially designed, I just think it's worth checking into a bit more.
haven't met anyone other than 3800 guys to actually increase the diameter of the x-over. from 2.25-2.5, or even 3" depending on turbo, motor configuration...oh and $$$$.

Im sure it does get by 300hp on a larger turbo. But lets just say you just replace the x-over with something a little larger that flows about 200cfm, Im sure it'll requre less boost to achive the same hp.

Its like the old ford turbo 2.3l guys. Theres the small exhaust manifold and the E6 Large exhaust manifold. The small ones ports remids me of our x-over pipe. Its good till about the 240-300hp mark but just making the swap improves the power band. Only thing you'll loose is about 200-400 rpm till spool up.

right and with a stock turbo he has no reason to play with it.......thats all I was saying.
