I'm building a 2.8 with a 3400 top end and turboing it.

My question is how would a stock TGP chip run this, if at all? I was thinking it would need less fuel due to the displacement being less but it will need more fuel cause of the extra air with the better top end so maybe I'll get lucky and it will balance out, haha yeah right.

Also I was thinking of running the 3400 injectors since they should be able to keep up with a boosted 2.8 no problems since they are made for a 3400. What size are the 3400 injectors? and how do i tell if they are pre 2000 injectors or 2000+ multech 2 injectors? I dont know what year my 3400 top end is so I have no idea what i have.

thanks

I'm pretty sure you are going to need more than just the 3400 top end...you are also going to need the heads....3400 injectors are like 18 or 19lbs/hr I think.  You are going to want some 22#ers from a 350 TPI vette or something to do this.....I'd like to see how this turns out......it is in my long term plans for my car......

Stock TGP injectors are 22lb/hr.  I am running C302 yellow top injectors in my TGP and with the fuel pressure of a TGP fuel pump, they run approximately 22lb/hr.  Here are the injectors I'm talking about: http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_SetsFORD.asp#foted5b

Not bad for $170 bucks.  This is what Flybynite recommends as stock replacements.

When i said top end I meant everything, heads, UIM, LIM. I already have all the parts here I'm just waiting on a turbo, chip and gaskets to put the thing together. As soon as my clutch comes in im going to put the bottom end and tranny together and in the car and start on the exhaust.

anyways those ford yellow top injectors. do they come in 5.0 mustangs? a friend of mine is right into those cars and he has a brand new set he said i could have for cheap if they would work for my set up, i did some searching and found out they are 19# but at TGP fuel pressure they are 22#. they sound like the ones TGP nick is using.

thanks guys

TGP Nick

That is correct.  They are 19lb, but with TGP fuel pressure, they are approx. 22lb./hr.  Excellent spray pattern, works very well in my TGP.

x4, I've had them in my black car for almost two years now and the car runs great. I have another set for my red TGP, but I'm waiting to put them in as the stock injectors are performing just fine.

I accidentally edited meltboy's post above...I hit "edit" instead of quote(like I've done once or twice in the past when not paying attention). I fixed it though. ;)

22s are kinda small for that top end.  Are you using a TGP crossover pipe? What kind of turbo?

I had a the tgp setup on a 2.8 once but all of it was stock and the motor was tired. It ran OK. 170hp on that setup small boost.

I have a feeling that 2.8 hybrid your building is going to be revvy. Its going to like to rev up like the small block  327. You'll deff need some chip work done and some dataloging. I'd go with some 29-35lbs injectors on that setup. The early SC 3800 had some large injectors. You can try those.

While your at it go to the www.60degreev6.com and check out WOT store.  They have some nice ported 3500 plenums and a matching 3400 lower you might want to have done.  From first hand experience just the 3500 upper will really wake up the top end!
