Stock injectors are 22lbs/hr. There's no need to upgrade the injectors unless you do other modifications that will require a lot more fuel. The stock injectors are plenty capable of supporting a lot more power than a bone stock TGP makes. By the way, you're correct that chip tuning will be needed if you upgrade the injectors.

You should be able to put down 250WHP pretty easy with a slightly modded TGP. The most overlooked part of these cars is the tiny exhaust system, a free flowing system is a must. Next is heat   :icon_twisted:   the under hood temps get pretty stout on a TGP, just a few degrees cooler makes a HUGE difference   ;) The stock injectors and pump are good for 260-280 WHP but the design of the injectors suck and they are prone to clogging(especially with the crappy fuel we get now)  A chip will enable you to utilize a 160 stat and unleash a few extra ponies and also is a must to get rid of the boost cut at 8.36lbs...

Definately what he said. If you get a chip... just a chip you will be very surprised and not disappointed. Exhaust and headers are my plan for next year, but a great... cheap and easy start would be a chip and also the Ford C302 injectors, a lot of us have them and love them.

Adam (Flybynite) makes chips and has run some respectible times with them.  Jeff MMMMMM yeah you can buy his stuff if he is still doing it.  Kenny K from KAZ motorsports sells them too.  You can also PM Invasion 1 too I think some guys are running his stuff.  Me I worked with Adam on my car and ended up learning to tune myself since my car is such a unique setup.

160 stat is not going to reduce the life of your engine by 5X that is just rediculous, what it will do is make your engine run colder and decrease your fuel economy a bit.  But these things are so hot I can't see it being a bad thing to run it cooler, besides a 160 stat does not mean your engine will maintain 160 F , that is just the opening temperature of the stat, the engine will actually run 170-175 depending on when you set your fans.

I am using bosch type 3 injectors with an EV1 connector from a 01 LS1 Trans am which are 28 lbs/hr.  You can get Bosch Type 3 injectors in 22lbs/hour on ebay with the EV1 connector for under $200.  You want the EV1 connector because it plugs into the wire harness you have stock.

"Invasion1" aka Dave is no longer in the chip making business.  I bought all his tuning stuff.  In fact he has diasppeared all together from the w-body world.

Anyways, like Cobra said, talk to Adam or Kenny and you won't be disappointed when it comes to a chip from either of these guys!

Good, maybe now I can send a swift kick via USPS to his Canadian ass for abandoning me and my chip tuning in capabilities

-Jeff M. never made headers to sell and no longer makes anything for these cars.
-Just dropping in a 160* thermostat I believe makes the car run poorly, I forget the reasons why. The computer probably dumps more fuel in because it thinks the engine isn't getting up to temp.
-As said, stock injectors are all you will likely ever need will a stock turbo, but there are better designs out there without going bigger, and the stockers have probably seen better days by now anyway.
-The stock turbo isn't much good at 12 PSI, it's basically just pumping more heat into the air. It can't move enough volume at that pressure.
