Hey guys i am new to the site and just got my first TGP last night. i picked it up for 850 bucks so its go its problems but my main thing right now is finding an air filter or a cold air intake setup for it.. the stock tube that goes from the turbo to the other side of the car is missing so someone just has a nasty oil filled old K&N crammed on inbetween the turbo and coolant res. For the life of me i cant find a setup that will mount right off my turbo. anyone have any ideas as to what i could do? or do i have to go to a dealer >.<. also iv heard alot about this Jeff m chip and i think i should get one my self.. anyone know how i can get ahold of one? thanks a bunch!.

Quinn.

(nevermind on the intake, i found a sticky in performance! thnx guys!.. but the chip on the onther hand i still need  :icon_biggrin:)

Congratulations on your purchase!  Welcome to the love/hate relationship that is the ownership of a TGP.

Unfortunately, Jeff seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth.  Haven't heard from him in quite some time, and no one seems to be able to get a hold of him.  Hope nothing bad happened to him.  :icon_eek:  His chips pop up used for sale from time to time on here, as well as the w-body forum.  He has several different stages, though most people buy his best one: The Top Gun 160 chip.  The performance isn't staggering, but it does remedy the driveability issues, and gives you a few more lbs of boost, plus kicks the fans on at 160?.  New, I think they were $275.  Used, they go anywhere from $150 - $200.  I have one, and even though I'm getting rid of the TGP & TSTE, I'm reluctant to let it go because I DO plan on buying McLarens again when I'm better situated to do so (buy a house.....and have a GARAGE).

"TGPilot"(Kenny = the owner of this website) makes chips that make quite a bit more power than the old jeff m. chips. He owns a peformance automotive shop in Colorado called KAZMotorsports. http://www.kazmotorsports.com/

Here are some posts regarding his chips:

There are some dyno comparisons of his chip compared to the jeff m. chip and stock TGP chip here.

theres no such thing as a cold air intake for these cars, the k&n filter off the turbo right there is the best most of us do, its WAY better than the pathetic stock airbox, as it is quiet (boooo turbo noise = teh cool) and the pipes can collapse under boost and starve the engine Bad! happend to me! no problem with the k&n there, but if your ambitous, make ur own, youd probably have to relocate the battery.
