QTP electric exhaust cutout

2.5" SS cutout pipe

2.5" SS Cat- brand new off of an SRT 8

2.5" polished SS Vibrant 18" resonator

2.5" SLP gold firehawk tips

Still need to buy: 2.5" SS weld flanges, 3" to 2.5" reducer for between cutout and cat, 2.5" 304 pipe, 2.5" 304 mandrel bends, 2.5" y-pipe.

So far the plan is, I will tack it together in my garage with my fluxcore MIG welder, then take it over to my cousins place and have him TIG it up.

Sounds like a great project! Keep us posted, cuz I wanna follow this!

wow that should be a nice setup :)  I have a similar hacked up version of that exhaust without the cuttouts .......all ghetto style TDC exhaust no mufflers, high flow cat (Meow ).....stock resonator......sounds awsome, looks like crap underneath but cant beat the sound!

Just to update this, got in on the mandrel bent SS catback group buy on w-body.com. Its made of 409 SS and is 2.5" piping.

Now I have to wait till spring when the TGP comes out of storage, so I can cut/weld in my resonator, cutout etc and fit it to the car.

Pics of catback.

Will update again in the spring with install pics.

Mine is very similar but it's 3" from the turbo back till it splits into 2.5 to exit in the stock location... Plus my turbo exhaust side and down pipe will be ceramic coated to help dissipate heat... I love NC winters hardly any bad weather to slow me down...  :icon_mrgreen:

flybynite, I don't know your car all too well, so correct me for mis-information.

I heard the 3" downpipe wasn't possible in the TGP's? I've not attempted it myself, however if it is certain that it will fit, then it is a definate for mine.

Get some soundclips when you finish that exhaust Matt. I'd imagine it will probably sound close to mine. All TGP's have just about the same tone no matter what exhaust is on them.

Adam I'm still interested in the 3" downpipe when you make them.  Hey can someone post up the link to the cat back group buy?  Can you still get them it looks pretty clean.........Ken might be doing some exhaust work on the tgp this year ;)

Yes a 3" down pipe is pretty much impossible with the auto unless you are creative. So I will keep the turbine and wastegate exhaust flow separated till it passes between the cradle and tranny then it will merge into a single stick of 3". The 5-speed ones, I will keep them separated for at least 18" down from the turbo. By doing it this way you don't half to worry about them trying to flow together right after the turbo thus allowing your turbo to spool more quickly and have less of a restriction on the turbine wheel at high rpms.. ;)   I have no pics as of yet.. My TGP is on the lift and is missing it's auto right now. So be patient and I will get some up soon...

Awesome! Well, I'm definately interested to see how it turns out. When do you expect it do be done?
