I would first make sure that your remote is positively working properly, take it to the dealer and ask them to check it.  If the battery is not new, change it first to make sure that isn't an issue.

If the remote is sending signal, then the RKE module is shot.  It can be repaired as stated, I replaced mine because I didn't want to do it twice and I got a good price.  I'm no electrical engineer.  Can't hold a screwdriver steady most of the time.

But if when you ground the wire with alligator clips and there is no cycle of the locks, and you are sure you have a good connection to allow that to happen, I would say the module is shot.  But also make sure that remote is working too.

I can get you a good price on a module if needed.  I can't recall the pn# or the list price, but give me a number and I'll give you my price shipped.  Otherwise its time to hit up the j/y.  Good luck man.

ok well I will inspect it more when I have time... yes the batteries are old and may be dead, but I was more concerned I had no reaction to grounding out the wire... but keyless entry is not a top priority at the moment, so when I get the time to do it I will update.. thanx for the info.

I know old topic but new question:

So I grounded out the receiver and the locks / trunk cycled.........will any transmitter work?  Do I just press the buttons and it should work?  I have new batteries in two remotes but neither worked after grounding out the receiver. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sounds like a corroded contact in your FOB, or in need of a new battery.. Surprised the reciever worked, they always need replacing..

I had similar intermittant no work, and difficult to get the fob to learn. I took the fob apart, and the 2 tabs with 2 tangs each, i bent them up abit so they contacted better and the fob worked awsome, trippled my distance, worked EVERY time not sitting there hitting the button 20 times before it unlocks. I uh then proceded to accedently beak the fob so now im fucked, lol.
