I just got a compatible trw remote and i am trying to program it. I heard you had to ground a Green? wire on it but it don't know where the module is and what it looks like. Also, when you ground the cable near the attenea the locks cycle but i can't seem to program it there. Help!!!

I've heard that it's in the trunk, but I looked an mine and there is NOTHING there! There's not even a sign of something that has been removed (no wires, marks, etc). I thought all TGPs came with Keyless entry as a standard item.    There is a strange plastic box under the passenger seat though...what might that be? I haven't had time to pull the seat and open that up yet. I thought it was maybe for the power seats..but then the driver seat should have one as well...and it doesn't. I'm just stumped...time for me to get a service manual I think.

The keyless entry box is behind the passenger side back speaker. You have to pull the back deck off to access it. If your just looking to program the remote the wire is in the trunk. Look where your antenna is mounted. There will be a single wire coming out of the wire look with a connector on the end. Ground that wire out. If the box is good then the locks should cycle through after grounding it. then press any button on the remote. The locks should cycle again. Then unground the wire and your done.

The box under the passenger seat is for the ABS.

redturbo90, thanks for clearing that up. I tried the process you described but the locks didn't unlock/lock after i "programed" it. I have a remote from a 1995 firebird that was made by trw. The buttons go unlock, lock, and then in the middle is the trunk button. I have the right one Right?

The remote needs to have the lock/unlock buttons on the top and the trunk button underneath them.
Did you check the battery in the remote?

Does anyone know the part number for the keyless entry box?  I tried the process stated above to program my remote but my locks do not cycle and I know the battery is good in the remote.

I have a box sitting right here. The number on it is 10063538.

EDIT: GMPartsdirect has them for $103.

Thanks for the part number :) I haven't ripped appart the rear deck to see if the TGP I bought has one or not, but I highly doubt it does :( So that saved me some time looking for the number! :)

This box is out of a '91? or '92? GP. But I'm sure the part number is the same on them.

So now another question on the same subject.  Does anyone have the pinout for the Keyless Entry box?  Mine is not working and I'm trying to figure it out.  Thanks in advance.

External, I want to see if I'm at least getting power to the module.  Send both if you have them.  It never hurts to have more information.  Thanks again.

not sure if this will help anybody but all tgp do come with a keyless entry system. today i went to pontiac and ordered a remote, and about 3 associates tried to laugh at me when i said my 89 tgp had keyless entry and after they finally figured out i knew what i was talking about they found the remote and it cost me $85 to order the remote and have them set it for me. I probably couldve done it cheaper by myself but im not a good electrician. easier to pay.
