Did all the '89s have that different upholstery? I mean the lined design in the middle of the four seats in my '90 is not there in this car, but it wasn't reupholstered if there is a big gash in the passenger seat...

All 89's have the "smooth" seats like that. 90's have the stitching/ribs in the centers of the seats.

Nice catch. I never noticed this difference between the 89 and 90. I did notice the cloth sections are a different pattern too.

I like how the outer driver's bolster is not in the picture I bet you it is shot like most.

just an FYI, I was buying this car for $600 cash in hand, hand a trailer arranged and was less than 24 hours from picking it up. he called me to say he wanted $1500 because he put a new battery in it...

the pictures are from a few years ago, the car has sat on a farm in the grass for over a year, the clearcoat is peeled, the interior is "OK", the rear window shelf is very dirty and might have mold.

He only recently got it running, and did so without replacing any fluids or filters. the "lifter tick" is a rod knock.

the car is not driveable and doesn't run good (runs rough). needs tires, brakes, engine refresh, turbo rebuild/replacement as it blows smoke, there are some random electrical issues he didn't want to talk about for some reason, needs a headliner, there is body rust under the side molding (not much though)...

I first started talking to the owner a few months ago.

long story short I've told him I'll buy it and we did agree on a price...
I have never said bad things about people, he's not a bad guy, just an un-educated TGP Owner (fyi - he owns 3 TGPs...) and there are good reasons why he is selling this one. and it's not because he has too many...hint hint.

with about $1500 in work it'll be a good daily driver (that's only if the transmission isn't shot)
the engine needs to be taken out and re-sealed, and maybe new bearings/rings.

I had planned on fixing it up, but alas he became unreasonable.

hopefully this helps if anyone wanted more info.

the owner isn't a bad person
and the car itself is in decent shape
long story short - just know it needs help mechanically

Bullet,
All I can say is WOW! I didn't realize that we had a deal or for that matter arrangements for pickup.  After the extent I went through to get you as much info on the car, all the extra pictures I took because you could not travel to see the car in person. You've definitely tried to attacked my character here no matter how you try to tip toe around it.  If any one has ANY questions on the car feel free to contact ME and I'll tell you HONESTLY everything I know about it. In an attempt to not clutter this post up with "drama' I have all the email conversations I have had with you that would correct some of your interpretations of our conversations. I didn't realize it was a crime to have three Pontiac Turbo Grand Prix's - I am a "collector"!  I'm not selling this one because I'm trying to make a quick buck or unload this collectible auto.  I would be happy to offer one of the other two for sale but the asking price would be considerably more.  I think it is amazing how you can talk about "my" car - you have never seen the car in person.  To me it seems you are upset I did not sell this car to you and now want to sway anyone else from doing so.
I would be happy to accept your offer that you stated in an email. "If you can get the car running and driving I would gladly pay up to $1200 in it's present condition".
I would like to elaborate more, however again, do not feel I need to defend the car I have presented pretty accurately. I don't want to say I am the "most" educated TGP owner but I have spent countless hours researching and working on my cars.  NO, I am not a mechanic by trade, but have a love and passion for the car.

Long story short . . .
I have many friends in the car community that respect me.
Yes, the car is in what I would call, decent shape.
I know it needs help mechanically and have stated that fact.

Respectfully,
Wachsone

I do apologize if you though I was attacking you or the car.

Over the phone I though we came to an agreement because I said that weekend I could send a friend up to pick the car up and was only waiting for your schedule.

I'm glad you were able to sell it though, as I no longer see it for sale.

Wish you all the best luck with your other TGP's, and endevours.
