My car is in the shop now....I ordered the lower valance but I still need that cooler that is mounted under the driver side fender.
What cooler is that??  I was told that it was the oil cooler....but when I un-clamped it, red fluid came out...which leads me to believe that it's either tranny fluid or power steering fluid.  Someone please help ....I need to order this ASAP.   THANX!!!!!

that cooler in/behind the bumper is absolutely not a oil cooler!!!  Its your tranny cooler.

Hmmm....thank you.  So, I specifically need a tranny cooler....a regular engine oil cooler wouldnt work there I suppose.
Do TGP's have a stock engine oil cooler?

Thank you for the help!!!

drivers side???  you must mean passenger unless your TGP has some type of rigged tranny cooler.   This is how the tranny lines go on a stock car.  Tranny ----> lines which to toward the passenger side then into the radiator out of the bottom and into the tranny cooler which SHOULD be on the passenger side.  I had a lot of rigged BS so I wouldn't be surprised! GL :D

NO! you do not need a specific tranny cooler.  Most coolers are tranny/oil universal.  If  you can find a decent hayden/b&m unit that would be sufficient.

Ooops, I meany passanger side.  I was ordering parts on the phone for a customer and I had that on my mind as I wrote the post.
Thanx!  I'll order a Tranny cooler right now!

Okay, I ordered a Derale Tranny Cooler.
It is stock size but high performance.  Since the mount under the fender has the holes pre-drilled, I was kinda limited to a certain size cooler.
But anyways, it's ordered.   Thanx for the help.

Hello, and welcome!

Quote from: TGPRobNYHi and  Welcome   The tranny cooler is usually in the radiator (fill side) The loop that runs along the front subframe is the power steering loop, and the oil cooler is under the r/fender. Aftermarket upgrades for the tranny and main fan (puller) can be ordered thru  Summit racing.com Great catalogs too! Good luck and a cool color!

Actually, there is a transmission cooler in the radiator (fill side) like Rob said, but the cooler inside the bumper on the passenger side is an additional transmission cooler.  It has ducting in the bumper that brings in cold air while traveling.  The reason there is one in the radiator is to keep the transmission fluid cool while idleing at a stop (when the additional transmission cooler is getting no air).  If it wasn't there, the transmission fluid would easily exceed the coolant temp (220+ degrees).  I just wanted to point that out so you aren't confused when you try to hook it up.

BTW, there is an engine oil cooler as well.  Its a round cylinder that's mounted to a spacer on the block, and it's located inline with the oil filter.  When you change the oil filter, that's what you are screwing the oil filter to.

If you wan't, check out my site.  There is lots of pictures and performance stuff there for the TGP/TSTE.

Hi Jason    Have you considered an additional oil cooler in series with the Rube Goldberg one around the oil cooler. I also want to block off the coolant into the TB. I may fabricate hard lines. Anyway the complete rebuild and detailed block/transaxle will be shoehorned back into the engine baytonite.  While it was out I cleaned, polished, replaced corroded wire loom clamps, cleaned the wire loom, painted chassis etc.  I'll wait until Prior has rebuilt masters availible for that swap. My upgraded rear calipers should be in this week also.....well back to the shop, Rob

Thanks for all the help! :)
I was looking at the naked front end of my car yesterday...and I also noticed that the fan is pretty bent up.  So I figured I might as well get a new and better one.  Any ideas on what's a good fan, and what size to get?  Thanks again!!

TGPRobNY

Hey there...If I can't locate a replacement rad fan (stock) I will most likely get a high performance setup from Summit and make it fit. The factory stuff is expensive and very hard to locate used. Good luck

I measured the fan...it's 11 1/2" in diameter.  Wouldn't it be hard to squeeze anything bigger in there without it rubbing the brackets?
I've been looking thru different catalogs and websites and the smallest fan I could find was 13" in diameter.
I just found this:
http://www.perma-cool.com/Catalog/Cat_page16.html
The first one 19010.  It's 10" in diameter.
Would this work?

My stock fan blade itself measures exactly 15": across. The plastic support itself measures approx 16 x 16 "   There are two rectangular cutouts in the lower metal valance that this assy sits in and then held by 2 10mm bolts on the top. The Permacool fans are nice. I believe you mount them directly to the core itself with feedthru plastic straps, thus making them universal in design. If I can't locate a replacement for mine, I will definately use the largest one that will fit. My car is being held hostage for a fan motor.   The motor went back in smooth last nite and today it all plugs and hoses.  I totally cleaned and flushed the oil cooler adapter  and it was well worth it.. Lots of junk came out. Thanks for the link, Rob

I've got a good used motor. However, its just a motor for the fan. There is no connector, that would have to be spliced. And its the nut style. So if you have the original clip style it wouldn't work since I don't have the nut.

I noticed today while sitting in my TGP that radio won't turn on.  It says 'Loc'.   I pushed the Pwr button, but nothing happened.

And...what is a good engine degreaser?  Do you have to keep it away from the turbo?

Thanx!

Chris
