My '90 TGP is running very bad.  No power at low or high speeds.  Stumbles and acts like it's being flooded.  Replaced wires, plugs, EGR, cross-over, and trans rebuilt.  vacuum lines replaced where needed and vacuum is good (15"+), fuel pump pressure is okay.  No 'Check Engine' light indications.  No system codes (12 meaning it can't find any probs.)  Any ideas?  From reading the forum it may be the Manifold Air Pressure sensor (MAP).  Would this sometimes not give a 34 system code?  I'm considering replacing it just for this spite of it!!

Could be a bad coil, did any one of the old plugs look blacker than the others, indicating a mis-fire. get one of thos $6 in line spark testers, and see if the gap the spark can jump is consistant for all three coils.

Yes, plugs 3 and 6 were fouled!  I replaced the MAP sensor anyway and it didn't help.  Oh well  $50 gone!
Did a little searching and plugs 3 & 6 use coil #2.  I think you've found it!!!

I've got the replacement coil, now how in the heck do I replace it?  Do I have to remove the starter to get to it?  I worked on it for over 2 hours and couldn't figure out how to get either the DIS module or the individual coil out!!!

Each coil has two long screws that go into the block through the ignition module.  One on the top, one on the bottom.  I can't remember the exact size, i think it was a 7/32, or at least that's how I got my rusty ones off.  Use the 1/4 drive see where that gets ya.  If the screws are bad make sure you replace them.

Yes, i too spent a long time on replacing coil, first of all, remove the
radiator fan, get all the plug wires off the coils and out of the way,
use 1/4 drive as was recommended. I didn't remove DIS assembly, just the coil. From the new coil you can see where bolt heads are.

:D Thanks for all the input guys!!!  I finally have my TGP running like it hasn't run in a LONG time!! :D

I removed the fan, and used a 7/32" socket on a flex extension to get the bottom screw out.  I used medical tape to hold the screw on the socket when re-inserting.

I had forgot what it felt like to run right!!!!

Needless to say I'm One Happy Mother F__ker! :!:  :!:
