can I tap (rubber mallet) on the exhaust side of the turbo to get it away from the turbo body once I have taken the 4 bolts out?  I can't seem to get the sob to come away from the body.  And where the hell do you get a set of C-clip pliers big enough to remove the compressor housing??  Chris A., Jim W., anybody tear this thing down before??  please help me!!!  thanks in advance Dale.

As for the snap ring pliers, I've got a set that I've for over 20 years that I use. After you remove the snap ring, mark the housing and center section (for ease in locating on reassembaly) soak the housing where it was with WD40 or some other rest penetrant and let it soak for 24 hours, then tap the housing with a rubber hammer,  If it won't move soak it again and let it set for another 24 hours and tap it again. I've had to do this 4 or 5 times on one of my turbos to get it apart, and only once on a couple of others...
Hope this helps. :drinking:  :drinking:

Since I don't have time to waste ...I used wd-40...if no luck... then I used a torch to heat the  turbo then whacked it with a sledge with the turbo isolated with a wooden block. Then heated it again and cooled it and then sprayed wd-40 and went at it again. I did this on a Ford turbo.
