I just recently bought my first turbo grand prix and noticed there is a small red light bulb in the dash (right in front of my left knee). I am wondering if this is a factory installed light for some sort of security system or keyless entry or if a previous owner put something like this in the car? If needed I can eventually get a pic but it would take a while since I am now away at college and no longer have easy access to a digicam.

No..it's not factory installed.

hmmmm... i wonder what it is.... i just wish i hadn't left my ratchet set in my old car back home when I came to college... This is kind of the same way I found my other car had an remote starter already installed... saw a switch, pulled it apart, found where it went and got it to work

It's probably part of a security system. :roll: I had one in my TGP. I ended up chopping out the whole system because it was messing the ignition up.

i finally got opportunity to pull the dash appart and it is part of a security system.... it says GM Security System on the boxes that are connected to it. DOes anybody else have one of these or happen to know anything about the wiring? All of the wires are cut and spliced together and broken... i'd like to get it working agian if i can find the right materials to do so. May have to just go find the local GM dealership service center and see what they know....
