I guess this is meant to be like most threads at other forums where people ask you what setup are you slowily working your way towards and what your goals with your car are. Just thought it would be interesting to see what you guys/gals(although I don't believe any female presence is on the board  ) have planned for your TGP and/or TSTE.  I'll add what I plan to do when the TGP is actually mine later, I really haven't thought about it a whole lot and anything I could think of at this time wouldn't be set it stone by any means.  So, besides fixing parts and doing normal upkeep, what do you plan to do with/to your TGP/TSTE? 8)

EDIT: if this is a reposted topic(I don't believe it is?), then admin/mods, please delete.

I'm getting a cone filter to put right on the turbo next week. After I get a job for the winter, I'm hoping to get the required components to build my own chip.  I'm also looking for a 1g DSM bov to put on.  I'm also going to get a Jeff M crossover as I get money. In the mean time, I may see about getting a friend help me weld up some flex joints like the post about curing the crossover bellows issue.  That is the close future. This summer, I am planning to put a 5 speed in.  I'd also like to get some new exhaust, some borla mufflers.  Maybe I'll look some more into the t3/t4 hybrid turbo.  Thats what i have planned for under the hood, at least for now. Outside I want to get the windows tinted.  I'm also looking into doing some custom work to the door handles since they are such a problem on these cars. Maybe I'll shave them. Although, then i wouldn't be able to race at the track anymore.  I'm also thinking of filling in around the handles and creating a new type of latch that is less visible.  I thought for a while about a way to make up some Lambo doors but the more I look at it and think about it, I'm not so sure that would be fitting for the TGP.  I'm going to do some fiberglass work eventually also but I'm not sure what exactly yet I plan on doing (maybe a new center console to better accomidate the 5-speed?).  Thats what I can think of right now...  Sorry for being so long winded, I just love my TGP and have lots of things I'd like to do with her.

TGPrix.

I plan on putting az much money az possible into tha car...
first I want to restore it to its original style...
then I want to go krazy on tha engine and just add az much stuff az possible(street legal), to soop it up...
then I plan on paintin' tha car tha grey color that looks primer(you know, tha color audi'z come in)...
then I want to put black racing stripes down tha middle of tha car(i don't know, I think that car would look cool from tha front with stripes)...
then I want to try and find some of thoze GTA rimz, and have tha gold painted black...
and for exaust, I waz thinkin' of going with cherry bombz...
-
Thats all for now...
first I need to replace my CAT...
and give my car a tune up...
then I start restoring it...

I plan on rebuilding one of the other blocks I have.  I'm gonna have the block O-ring'd, copper gaskets, SBC rods, custom forged 8:1 pistons, Manual boost controller, 20-22 psi track, 15 or so on the street, New SPEC clutch, I may go w/ a Hybrid turbo but in the end it will be a PT44 or there abouts.  Since I've got about 8 of these heads lying around, I'm probably going to take a shot at mild P&P and see what I can come up w/  FMIC, N2O ~75 shot w/ custom intercooler spray bar.  I'm really thinking about doing a gen III swap, but that will be a winter project down the road.  I AM getting a WB 02 sensor (Probably LambdaBoy) so I can start really tuning this thing, now that I have the chip equipment.  The body work/interior will get done this winter as long as the body shop is comfortable painting parts separate.  If not, It will probably goto the booth for a stock paint base/clear shot when I have the motor out.  That's all I can think of for now.  Maybe I'll add later when I'm not soooo tired.

1st off  God910 - you do know you will need a computer to run that tranny in an TGP!

I plan on restoring the STE to flawles condition, only two things I want to do to it are get an CD player (hey LUKEZ34), and find an factory leather interior for it. My cloth is perfect condition - just want leather to match other GP's.

With my TGP -I just want an daily driver that i am happy with,  I've had Grand Prixs for 17 years already.  If I toast the ocassional "ricer" that will be cool also.[/b]
2004 GTP -  3.8 Blown - Only modding for MPG.
1997 GTP  - 3.8 Blown - Too many mods to list.
1996 GTP - 3.4 DOHC - Twin to my 1997.
1995 SE - soon to be a 3.8 turbo car.
1990 TSTE x 2 white cloth
1990 TSTE x 1 maroon leather
1990 TGP - 5 speed.

16 and turbo'd......make own conclusion.

GPChief

kadoi...I think that was the first step for most of us, now it is just improving on the foundation. 8)

yeah i know. well i guess i post my plans. May be a little extreme but i always told my self that when i got my first car i would keep it forever that way at some point in time i would have something to be proud of.

Motor
Rebuild and bore .30 over with new billet connecting rods, new pistons, hardend crank, heavier lifter springs, new pushrods, solid rocker arm assembly, a 94 camaro 3.4 lower and upper intake manifold like TurboZ24's, new cam, possibly twin turbos, but probably a T4. Port and polish heads, LT1 throttle body like TurboZ24's, borla exhuast, custom downpipe. Much more.

Body
Custom ram air hood along with a custom from valence and a custom low profile wing(classy not ricy) probably red neons cause the look cool.

already have a bitchen system so those are my main concerns. Probably will take me many years to complete but once done watch out. lol.

Ok, I guess I'll start adding what I plan on doing after the 90 TGP is mine.  Going to break it down in different sections just for the sake of doing so.
Appearance
- Paint/powdercoat the stock gold crosslace wheels black, if painted, they will be a standard "glossy black."  BTW, this will be done to an extra set of crosslaces so that I can keep the factory wheels in their original condition.
- If I don't like the black wheels, I'll probably go with a set of aftermarket wheels in either chrome or hi-polished finish, thinking AE 077's http://www.aewheel.com/wheels_detail.cfm?id=57 or AE 192's http://www.aewheel.com/wheels_detail.cfm?id=97 of which both I think look awesome and I can get them for a pretty reasonable price through someone I know.
- Probably going to start a paint scheme under the hood including painting the underhood braces, dogbone mounting brackets, and a few other things.  I'm contemplating polishing the plenum and at least the front valve cover, I would probably do the rear also although it wouldn't be very visible.
- Possibly would put the mule hood being made for the 88-96 GP's on the car, but I really like the look of the stock TGP so not many exterior modifications will be made.
- Different exhaust tips, the dual dual outlet round "rolled edge" tips like I have on my 93 GP except w/ 2.5'' outlets instead of 3'' like on the 93 although they don't look bad being 3''.
-Spoiler - either the flush mount spoiler that was pictured in the recent spoiler thread or a typical 91-93 spoiler w/o the light in the center.

Engine/Performance
- Turbocharger upgrade = probably a "super 60" trim T3
- Larger fuel injectors, upgraded fuel pump, and upgraded fuel pressure regulator..all of those if needed.
- Basically everything else needed to to survive the punishment the T3 puts out...forged internals, total seal rings, etc.
-FMIC- a decent sized one, most likely keeping the ac and piping the intercooler plumbing through the condenser if need be.
-Fenderwell intake with moving the battery to the trunk.
-the "mild turbo application" camshaft made by Crane that is sold through GM parts direct if it's a good match for the other modifcations being performed.
- Worked over Gen II heads unless I want to tackle the Gen III swap on a TGP which I probably won't.
-2.5'' downpipe and full 2.5'' mandrel bent SS exhaust system with a high flow catalytic converter and a resonator.  The car has the stock piping and a high flow cat and a resonator now, so the piping only needs upgrading.
- 4T60 worked over locally and more hardened/strengthened parts added.
- LSD for the 4T60, probably the one pontiacjeff offers.
- steeper gears, most likely 3.69's, I believe pontiacjeff also offers this...I have the basic jist of how to change the gearing anyway using select 4T60-E parts.
Suspension/Braking/Tires[/b}
-Addco rear sway bar
-34mm bar off a 91-93 GTP only because I have an extra here.
-rear lowering spring from the company that now makes them(search the w-body board for the info on it), probably just the 1'' drop.
-KYB GR-2 struts all the way around, hopefully us w-body owners can meet the requirement to get the adjustable struts made again.
-crossdrilled/slotted rotors...on a side note, I'm thinking of trying to make my own brake upgrade kit using the largest sized components that would fit under the 16'' stock wheels, I know the corvette ZR-1 style conversion RSM uses requires 17'' wheels, I wouldn't buy it from them anyway, I think I can put together a kit on my own cheaper.
-performance friction "Z rated" ceramic brake pads.
-Decent "Z" rated tires, I believe the car has z rated RSA's on it now.

That's basically all I can think of at the moment, a lot of this is just brainstorming at the moment, and if I do all that, it will take me quite sometime to complete everything.  I'll add more stuff as I think of it, and delete some stuff if need be.

The TGP is more or less my daily driver, so I want to keep it subtle, yet effective. MOre of a restoration than modification, but have to personalize the ride.

Engine-
Use spare 3.1 engine I have to build a light stroker engine. O-ring and decked block,  slightly lesser compression to allow for higher boost, and some more port work on the heads/intake/ex. mani's, Custom ground cam from one of my suppliers(the Crane is nice, but not quite what I will want personally), JeffM x-over and TG160 chip, t3/t4 or ported 20g Turbo, and a few other odds and ends. Looking for around 320-350 whp.

Trans-
Finally found someone who knows these trannies, and can do a strong rebuild. Nothing SUPER radical, but something to hold up to the power for long periods of time, and allow for high speed cruising in OD.

Body-
Basic restoration. Will look stock other than the paint. I'm using GM's Blue/Black metallic for the paint. Light window tint as well.

Interior-
Basic resto here as well, and a small A/V system for entertainment.

Other-
I do plan on having a 50-75 shot of Nitrous, and installing a FMIC. More than likely I will use the FMIC I have stashed away from my Supra. Also, I'm looking at some Arelli Assasyn's I have from my old GP. 18x8, and they fit perfect on the TGP, and even flush out with the fenders. No rubbing either. Just cant decide if I like the extra weight, or if I want to have the stock rims, as they look quite nice as well. I'm also having a custom 3" exhaust done for it. I want deep smooth sound, but not overly loud.

I'm sure I'll change here and there as the car prgresses, but this is basically the final product.
90 TGP- Mods, yeah I have them...

Hmmm.. where to start..

Since I have a decent garage now, the car is going to get some work during the winter.

  • Fix the stereo system. Find out why I lost my right channel, and find a way to install some nice components in to the factory foor locations.

  • Clean up the interior, fix all the broken things inside.

  • Install a aftermarket keyless entry/alarm  (given up on the factory RKE)

  • Find the annoying rattle in the back seat

  • Polish and clean the rims. Anyone with tips on sanding and polishing the outer aluminum edge of the stock rims, please PM me. I need some tips.

  • Add the security lighting feature (hopefully)

  • Rewire the P,R,N,D switch that is ziptied on the bottom of the PM III unit. (Trunk switch, wire clutch switch, etc)

  • Get exhaust pipe welded where I cut to gut the cat.

  • Test all fuel injectors, and replace faulty ones with new, or replace all with 22lb accels.

  • Find a new turbo for a good price, or possibly get this one rebuilt. (got a little shaft play)

  • Check over entire motor, plugs, wires, all the basics. Replace what's needed.

  • Check and replace wheel sensors (stupid ABS light)

  • Setup a better intake system (K&N directly on turbo)

EDIT: Thought of a few more things..
  • Replace the worn shift knob, or get the leather wrapping redone

  • Replace clutch when it goes (getting pretty close I think)

I think that's it.. I'm gonna be busy, and broke this winter..

Oh..and I might be picking up another red 90 TGP soon...sans turbo motor  . If I get that one, I will be returning it to stock condition, which is pretty much just taking out some dents, painting it, and swaping in the turbo motor from my current TGP. The only mod I plan on doing for that car is a top gun driveability chip.  8)

Here's what I want to do to my STE:

Keep it free of decals

Install the new PM3 i have

Install the front GMPP STB that I have

rear STB

GMPP trailing arms

dsm bov

paint and install the spoiler I just got:  :)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33638&item=2437389991

I got a 2 pillar pod for $30 at autozone that I will mold on, I want it to be low so it's almost touching the dash.  VDO makes a cool boost gauge 0-15psi that looks like it could belong on the dash from Pontiac, and it's only $35 at pepboys.  I'm still waiting to find out if they make a trans temp gauge in the same style, and they also make a 0-30 boost gauge.

FFP underdrive pulley

FFP upper motor mounts

possibly leather if I can ever find it for a good price

topgun160

KYB all around

eventually find a block so I can build a new engine for it.  I have a rebuilt tranny, extra heads and intakes that will be used.  In the meantime polish the plenium and make it look nice.

I have some extra interior pieces that I started painting white, just to see how it would look.

Maybe powdercoat some engine bay parts blue.

Blue calipers?

I have an extra set of taillights that I may clear to see how it looks, don't know yet.

Other than that, I think the interior is comfortable, and the stock stereo is great.  Basically, I want it to look clean on the outside, and look stock.  White 5 spokes and spoiler are only additions, but they came from other GP's, so I kinda consider that stock.  I'm a big fan of this car and would like to keep it a long time, so with a new engine, tranny, and master cylinder I think it would be possible.

Are there any cheap mods that I missed?  Sorry for the long post but that's all I could think of now!
