Okay, I'm gonna start hunting MEMCAL's to stick the ol chip into.  Which one's will work?  Will non-turbo MEMCAL's work okay?  What part numbers do I need?  Thanks for the help.

Some people say that the TGP MEMCal has "special" knock-sensor circuitry on it.

Others have said there is zero difference in the MEMCals only the info burned on them. Speaking to my friend who has been working for Pontiac for 30 years and has more experience with early 90's to current car electronics than anybody I know...he also says there is no difference in the MEMCals.

I used a MEMCal from a 2.8 to test and run my TGP when the 5-speed swap was finished and I saw no difference in performance or knock retard using it.

ugotturbo?

If anyone finds where we can get these memcals that will work in our TGP's...let me know!

I would like to confirm this too, only thing that hangs in my throat is when the ECM goes into limp-home mode (over rich o2 for preset amount of time-someone working a new chip with larger injectors, other sensor issues can cause this) and does not use the eprom, are the remaining circuits in the MEMCAL from another car with a different engine size, injectors etc still going to get you home?  It would seem not so considering this, but an easy confirmation is to get one from a 2.8, burn the proper eprom but leave the check sum engineering out of bypass so the ECM goes limp and see if it idles, I would not advise driving for the test.
