While I am driving my car wants to sputter and cut out when I press on the gas a little bit....as you press it so far it just cuts out and there is a dead spot and you either have to give it wide open or let off the gas to get it running again....what could be my problem...also it has an erratic idle at start up????? thanks in advance.

That's exactly what my car is doing, but at multiple places in the lower RPM band.  I'm pretty sure it's the cross over

Most likely it is the crossover/mani.  That will cause that.  I am dealing with that now.  Hopefully this winter when I replace with JeffM's cross it will take care of it.  You may also try cleaning the trottle body, I know it gets carboned up pretty bad if you don't keep it clean.

Try cleaning the IAC module/motor on the front of the throttle body too.. also sounds like you could have injector problems, but that could all be from the x-over..

I forgot about those crappy injectors.  Thanks Ryan.

I'm gonna do a good inspection of my car this winter.. hopefully pressurize the injectors and see if any are leaking.. while I'm under the plenum I'm gonna do a whole new set of vacuum lines too.. I can't wait until next year!!  Damn the snow!

I found out what the biggest cause of it was...I had 2 vacuum lines off...one under the plenum and one behind the engine....thanks for all of your help....

Definetely shouldn't ignore that crossover despite your fix.  Start saving!
