Hey Guys Listen to this, I might be crazy but,,, My car has an erratic Idle, it goes from 1500 (in drive) to 900, you can never tell when this is going to happen. Some times it stalls out when I brake to a stop or at a stop, it starts to idle rough then when I hit the lightly touch the throttle, it stalls.
Now here is the weird part, I was sitting still looking over my vacuum lines to try and find one broken or with a leak. I then frustrated sit back in the seat and roll up the passenger window till it stops and the motors draws current, the idle drops 300 rpms I let off of the switch and it rumbles a little then slowly creeps back up to 900. I think its a fluke and try it a few times and it does it consistantly. I then hook up a voltmeter to my system to check the flux on the charging system. It is charging at 13.5
volts I then turn on the headlamps and fog lamps and open the door. the needle bobs a bit but goes back up to 13.5 then the car shuts off. OK so I shut everthing off again and go start it up. It rumbles a little then returns to normal idle. I turn on all the units the same as before. The needle goes to 13.5 then I go to flash rev the engine to about 3000rpm and the car is breaking up all the way there. I try it a few times and it does it consistantly.
I go in the car and shut all the components off and go rev the motor again.
to 3000rpms, It does it fine. I turn the components on again and it idles fine but when I go to rev it to 3000rpms it breaks up all the way there again. I now notice that I cannot flash it above 3000 or it cuts out. It drives fine 2000rpms on up, there is hesitation when you start up, but once you get going it feels fine. Now I am thinking that somehow the car is not getting enough voltage from the battery/ altenator combination and it is having an effect on my spark some how. I know this was long winded, but I had to give you the scenario. Any body have any ideas as to what this could be?
