Hey everyone, used to be a member but then I got a TA and have been driving that since the TGP has had a cold and havent been on the boardin  a long time.  Here she goes, Been sitting for about 6-8 months, all at once it started blowing white smoke out the back when it warms up.  Exhaust smells funky, but there didn't seem to be any mixture of oil and antifreeze.  It has been rebuilt about 50-60xxx ago, would really like to get it running again as i drive 50 miles one way to go to school every damn day.  I didnt know if those symtoms would be head gasket, oil return line, heads, valves, or whatever.  I really want to hear that sweet exhaust sytem again, (there is no mufflers.)   Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks Again.

I'm thinking its the oil return line, but even if its not, its not a bad idea to replace that first since its fairly inexpensive.

Have you checked the coolant level yet? Also, if you let it run for an extended amount of time, does the car start overheating?  The exhaust smelling bad can be due to sitting up for some time, I can notice a difference in my cars exhaust smell if I store them for awhile.

Pore a thing of fuel system or injector cleaner in the fuel tank. and drive it as often as possiblel. For sitting that long it might just be cleaning the combution chamber and intake valves up (and driving 50mph will help that out a lot). My 67 plymouth has been sitting for a year and it blew greyish smoke out when I got it running again. Also how does it idle is it rough, smouth, irratic?

Replace the oil return line first. Then if that does not solve the "white" smoke issue remove the tranny vacuum modulator vacuum line and run it for about 20 minutes at idle. I have found more often than not that if you have white smoke with a funny none motor oil smell it is the vacuum modulator allowing tranny fluid into the vacuum line. When tranny fluid gets into the cumbustion chamber it has a pugnent smell and white smoke out the tail-pipe... 8)

Thanks ill try to replace the oil return line this weekend and get it running.
If that doesn't work, ill try the tranny modulator.
