Will I still get charged the same price?

I can take off a couple of bux if you don't want it coated. I get powder coating on my intakes so cheap the price isnot going to be effected very much.

OK, just get a price on how you normally do them. Can I get one custom made to the lengths I want?

Its harder to go any farther then i have it.. its up next to the fan now. any farther and the filter won't fit.

My next thing i was going to check was having it go over to the stock spot on the passanger side putting the filter in under the plastic and running a pipe over to the plastic.

Mine wouldn't be going towards the fan. It's going straight down. I'll have some extra room around my engine after all the A/C stuff is gone.

very sweet! What kind of glaze/polish did you put on your car, it looks awesome. Also, where did you get your 3" downpipe from? Very nice car!

Thanks, I just use a 1 step wax called fast wax made by Presta products. It can be purchased from body shop supply stores. I keep the car in the garage and it isn't driven daily so its pretty easy to have it ready for shows.

I don't have a 3" downpipe yet. It was placed on by mistake, when I joined the SEGPA (southeastern grand prix assoc) It asked for current mods in one section and future mods in the next. Somehow the future mods were translated to current mods. Sorry for the confusion.
I'm actually waiting on Shane ( Redzmonte) for his 2 1/2" down pipe. It seems to be as much as can be fitted in there.

Thanks
Rick

Quote from: 1trucavalierpull your intake to TB hose and look at the throttle plate.  oil will build up there if you got the intake sucking from the pcv (give it some time).  I just slapped a filter on mine.  I did though put the pcv on the rear valve cover.  Your engine bay looks scweeet and clean.

2 cents here.

The fitting on the front cover is a breather, for the crankcase to suck in air. This is part of the PCV system. The PCV valve, on the back cover, sucks air out of the crankcase. Since the internal volume of the engine is always changing as the pistons go up and down there needs to be some way to allow this change.

On older cars they just vented to the atomsphere. However, toxic gases build up in the crankcase, from oil vapor, blowby, and fuel vapors. To contain these gases, the are recovered by the PCV system. By drawing fresh air into the crankcase, and out into the intake manifold they are burned as part of combustion. The PCV valve meters the amount of crankcase vapors that get drawn into the intake. Vapor is not supposed to go out the breather at the front of the engine. However, as engines wear, blowby increases and the crankcase becomes pressurized beyond the point the PCV valve can evacuate it. This is especially true on TURBO cars as the PCV valve can leak manifold boost pressure into the crankcase as well.  So vapor will get PUSHED out of the crankcase, and into the intake stream.

Many people think that there is a vacuum in the intake tract which causes the vapor to be drawn out of the crankcase. While it can be argued that there is in fact a small vacuum as air is drawn through the air filter (pressure drop) this is not what is responsible for the oil entering the intake tube. The vacuum from the PCV valve far outweighs the small vacuum that could be present in the intake tract.

mine vents out w/ just the open filter. when i was dynoing i saw it venting out the filter. so it does work bolth ways. Maybe not as good but it definatly lets out smoky/oily air. the PVC will suck it out allot better then it it will vent out but it still works.

You have a small filter on the front valve cover I assume and you saw vapor from this?

Thats what I was trying to illustrate. Its not SUPPOSED to vent out the front breather. But it will for a variety of reasons, like you have stated, even without the 'vacuum' of the intake air when the breather is piped to the intake pipe. Especially under boost, when there is no manifold vacuum to evacuate the crankcase, the only place for it to go is out the breather.

so what is the correct thing to do to prevent long term engine damage if any ?  put a pcv on front and rear?

the correct thing is to hook it up like stock. put a nipple on the intake and run the the breather for the valve cover back into the vaccume side of the intake.

I just noticed today that there's a slight oil build up in my intake.. what all needs to be done to fix this?
My TGP is still unregistered until I sell the Cutlass, so I can't drive it. Now is the time I'd like to look in to fixing this..
Thanks in advance..
