Ok, guys.  I joined this site a while ago to get some info for my project.  I plan on dropping a Turbo Grand Prix motor into one of my '89 Pontiac 6000 STE All Wheel Drives.  But, when a Turbo STE popped up on eBay a while back, I kept an eye on it because it was supposedly in really nice shape and bidding started at only $1,000.  So when it didn't end for much more than that, I couldn't resist.  I jumped on it and placed my one and only winning bid with 10 seconds left.  I was thrilled to have won it.

But, here we are nearly 2 months after I won it and I'm still waiting for it to get to me in Illinois from Virginia.  It's coming from a dealer and he said it's got to pass state insepection in VA before it can be given to the customer.  Fine, I'm sure it needed some odds and ends, but 2 months??  Come ON!!  I paid $600 over a month ago to have it shipped here.  Now it's not like the guy is not responding when I chase him down and pester him about it, but this is rediculous.  I sent him an email informing him that I'm notifying eBay, my bank (for mail fraud) and an attorney.  He responded apologetically last Saturday less than an hour after receiving my email and said that it will be shipped out Monday afternoon for certain.  Well, here we are Wednesday and once again, nothing!  Time to get the lawyer on this.  I just don't want to loose out on the car.  I would love to have a Turbo Grand Prix, but I'm not about to get ripped off for it.

Um....it would not have to pass VA inspection if you bought the car completely over the net..he just would have to send you the title and you transfer it into an IL title pay any taxes taht would need to be paid {I know in MN if you pay less then $3,000 for the car the tax is only $10} and then he could Ship it to you Free and Clear.... as long as you didnt go to VA to look at the car....that is....you pay no VA tax nothing...because you are in IL and you pay IL tax....

what part of VA?  If its northern,va  alexandria, arlington, woodbridge etc.. tell me the name of the dealer and I can ride down there and see WTF is going on.  I can at least look around and see if the car is there.

I was asking around, and its like MD with VA. Any car a dealer sells has to be inspected, regardless of where its titled. So, they may have sold it uninspected, but inorder to process the paperwork, have to inspect it. I know there are ways around it but thats the general rule.

Since 6000STE/AWD posted this topic there have been plenty of replies but what is actually going on with the car.  So 6000STE/AWD, what's up with it?  Has the dealer contacted you?  Is it finally on it's way?

Yeah, I didn't realize there were two threads going either.  Now I realize what I did.  I must have posted it here initially when I meant to put it in general.  I didn't see it there and thought that it didn't post for some reason, not realizing I had put it in the wrong section.  So, I posted it again.  My fault.

But as Chris said, I DID finally get the car and there are a lot of little odds and ends wrong with it like the ABS still periodically flashing (which was supposedly fixed and that was part of the hold up on delivery), it was blowing out blue smoke continously for the first mile when I picked it up, and a whole bunch of broken interior pieces.  Not to mention the thing was obviously in an accident and repaired because there is white over-spray in the engine bay.  He also just now informed me that all the repairs he did were not for inspection, but rather because I'd "be mad" if I got it in that condition.  Well, he should have tried a little harder if he was trying to avoid making me mad.

And just tonight, a new dilemma.  I haven't really gunned it yet like in a race till tonight when i tried to take on my sister's LeSaber T-Type with the 3800 Series I.  I anhilated her in first gear, but when it went to shift into second, power cut out on me completely.  The engine didn't die at all, but it felt like I took my foot off the accelerator suddenly.  It kept doing it every time I floored it.  Quite annoying.  Another little mechanical problem that needs to be looked at.  Which sucks because while me and my sister were racing, this geezer in a Porsche Boxter wanted to get in on the act.  I was leaving him behind as I heard his motor revving to high hell, but then my engine cut again at the shift!  (Well, I'm pretty sure he knew he got toasted, but still...)  I also noticed it accelerates inconsistantly even at lower, cruising speeds, almost stuttering.  But it idles perfectly and usually accelerates fine.  I don't have any experience with turbos, so I haven't a clue what it's doing (tranny problem, turbo issue, fuel issue, etc.?)

I'm not saying it's a lemon, but I think he would have gotten far less bids had he been more forthcoming with everything.  AND, I also told him to NOT ship it anymore.   Since it had taken so long, it was no longer worth paying $600 to me to have it shipped.  I can't justify that price for such poor service.  The only reason I shelled out that kind of money in the first place to have it shipped was because I knew I was going to work 3 Saturdays in a row after I won the auction, so I knew it would be over a month at the earliest to make a trip down there to pick it up.  I never dreamed it would take over that long anyway to ship out!  So when I called and it still wasnt ready 10 days prior to the date it ended up in the terminal, I told him not to ship it and that I would come get it myself as soon as it was ready.  And of course, he did anyway.  This guys been nothing but trouble, weather on purpose or not.

BTW, the name of the dealership is Premier Auto Sales in Virgina Beach, VA.
