oil pressure limiter or regulator??

looking for something to slow the flow of oil to my turbo.....

im thinkin my high volume oil pump (GMPP pump) is pushing to much oil to the turbo and causing oil to seep out around the seals and then raw oil burns in the DP and exhaust = smoke smoke smoke.

thats my theory anyway.

its not the NEW oil return hose i have on from Jeff M
the engine is not burning the oil in the combustion process.

any thoughts??

i wanna keep the oil pump cause i really liked it in my N/A 3.1 and thus why i ordered one for the turbo engine.

so im looking for a possable solution

The Honda guys have to use them sometimes on turbo swaps, its an Autometer part.....just a sec.......*puts on hold......bah bah bah.....bah bah bah.....* haha

umm no.....

when you venture into new ground with mods and such you sometimes run into small little problems that need to be worked out and thats what this is.

glad yours is so perfect the way it is...as long as your happy

I also fail to see how this is a band-aid...

You do also realize these are used on Fuel and Nitrous right.  This is a pretty common thing actually, it can't be much of a band-aid if they make parts for it.

I guess the "right" way to fix it is to just right an entirely new smaller oil line.

I did a few searches on yahoo and google and found some very good links and forums about the oil restrictors in turbo cars.

starting to think this is what my problem is  :?

oil is entering the DP and due to heat its kinda "cooking" it all the way down the exhaust system and smoke and minimal raw oil is actually misting out the tail pipes when im in motion and on the gas.

don't wanna swap out the pump is my main thing here if i can find another solution.

Mine works good for now  I had to spend a grand to get there. wont last long with compressor surge going on. I dont think restricting the oil or replacing the only stainless line on the whole car will help either.  Maybe a gapless oil seal.

engine is fully rebuilt and has less than 5000 kms on it so far (still tuning and tweeking the ECM)

-New high volume GMPP oil pump

-Rebuilt Turbo with brand new center cartrage housing by www.cheapturbo.com

-Stock oil to turbo feed lines not sure the sizes

I sure hope the turbo seals are not outright blown due to the oil volume increases.... :(
from the descriptions i have read on this forum from Jim (IDBeast) it sounds like its quite easy for the oil to blow past the seals.....like when the oil return tube is restricted.

This is kind of interesting me.  I know I have a high volume oil pump on my engine, plus the oil lines are all custom made and I have no oiling problem at all in this department.

How is your oil RETURN line?  If the oil can't find a way out, its going to find the nearest gap to get out, usually into the compressor or turbine obviously.  This is what seemed to be the problem on our last turbo project.  The oil wasn't draining, so instead it was going out the compressor.

forgot to add

i have a brand new turbo to pan drain tube....in fact its from Jeff M when i got my Crossover from him....

i have had it off to inspect it and there is no obstructions in the return piping at all.

GangstGP

so they put em in mazdas? That makes me want one.

No seriously, I'm sending mine back to Garrett and make them put a FULL ball bearing(meaning both sides of the journal) on there and then I will get the restrictor thing you are talking about.

Is that why you guys are doing this mod?

also, I am thinking more about the way my car tilts when I park it because it needs to drain by gravity. it also has to have a steady slope down to the pan. And I used to not think how where I park my car its tilted down one way to the sewer drain.
